Thumbs down Speeding in Lincolnshire

For those of you who didn't know the police are going to get tough on Bikes this year.

BBC NEWS | England | Lincolnshire | Drive to cut motorcyclist deaths

So watch out for those unmarked cars & cameras

But here's thought, I went out on Julie's trike today, didn't go above 60 and I was one of the slowest vehicles on the road

Re: Speeding in Lincolnshire

Shame they don't go after those c***s who put out just as you approach the junction they're sitting in !!

Still given the modifications made on most of our region's members bikes, most of us should be safe

That said, riding up here is a darn sight more dangerous than when I was despatch riding round London !

Re: Speeding in Lincolnshire

They are all over at the moment. I was stopped for the first time in years a week or so back by a bike cop. I asked him politely why he had stopped me. He said they were on a drive to cut bike deaths...............Then said why did i have a black and silver number plate on a bike only a few years old. He was ok in himself but i wasnt speeding as i had seen him behind me for a bit. Told me to change it. Never said a thing about my pipes, or, if he did i couldnt hear him.

That's understandable though eh...any idiot knows that having a black and silver number plate on a newish bike is the cause of over 95% of fatacs involving motorcyclists.
Speeding down the white line on your back wheel or cutting in and out of traffic as though you're on a race track pales into insignificance compared to such a cardinal sin!!!

Re: Speeding in Lincolnshire

The details are now online Road Safety Advice - Lincolnshire County Council

And the roads concerned are:
A631
A16
A52
A15
A153
A158
A17
A46
A157
A151
B1178
B1202

Also the local constabulary are on a charm offensive.
During Wednesday evening,7th May they held court at the Gibbets Nook filling station, at the junction A153 & B1192 Coningsby. Hassling ALL bikers who stopped to fill up, handing then tickets for small plates, loud exhausts etc
Yet my son who was on his old CX500 that has NO scilencers just open pipes was not ticketed even though his bike isn't legal

Nice to see that when local crime in that area is at an all time high our boys n girls in blue are doing something worth while

Re: Speeding in Lincolnshire

Had a very near miss with a member of the local constabulary today when leaving the NCC custom and classic show at the sun Inn in Saxilby today.

The large number of motorcycles and even more motorcyclists attracted the attention of the village bobby, who, upon quizzing the landlord of the pub and finding out that the had the necessary permissions, decided it would a good idea to stop the bikes as they were leaving by jumping into the middle of the road from behind a number of parked cars.

As I followed a group of 5 bikes away from the pub, he pounced gazelle like into the middle of the road. 2 of the bikes braked, as did I, they came to a halt. I, on my 1972 Hurricane with twin leading shoes drum brakes could not stop quite so sharply. Fortunately the handling of the Triumph meant that I could steer round the sudden obstacle that had emerged directly into my path. I duly carried on about my lawful business and then phoned the pub to get them to warn anyone leaving of the sudden and potentially lethal hazard lurking up the road.

as a speeding deterrent, this method seems to work quite well - hats off to brave lad from Lincolnshire police who devised this novel if naive method.

Re: Speeding in Lincolnshire

I suspect he might not had been on the green cross code training course - must be something to do with the Police getting younger

That or he's got the message a bit wrong and is single handedly trying to increase motorcycle deaths
