Apart from the obvious one of helmets being compulsory, then no..... so far!

Car drivers are just as blind over here as anywhere else in the world, and even with your headlights on may fail to see you when they pull out to overtake.

if you haven't ridden or driven in the UK before, this might be useful; note especially the rules on roundabouts.

Driving in the UK - Tourist Information UK

You don't need a hi-viz vest, first aid kit or spare bulbs, although the last two are sensible anyway; I would recommend though that you fit a beam deflector (couple of bits of tape) to your headlight.

Drink-driving rules; obviously, to be safe, don't. However as a general guide an average person could consume half a litre of beer, or a small glass of wine, and still be under the legal limit.

Enjoy your stay!

I met two Swedish couples on bikes at Stonehenge last year who had used the same route as me, the women said all the farms they passed smelt the same
Hi FinnDave
We take a cargoferry from Gothenburg it has only 3 cabins for passengers
in all 6 beds and as I understand space on deck for 3 cars alt 6 bikes but Im not sure. Here is the web page you can look in to DFDS Seaways' Gothenburg - Immingham freight ferry shipping route - DFDSSeaways.com/Freight
They take bookings 8 weeks before your wanted departure, the price is aprox 5000-6000 Skr 1 person 1bike T o R including dinner/breakfast. And that is a much better alternative then other ways. And you land in Immingham easy to go on to Ireland and Scottland from there if you wish,or just stay in the Queens blessed land of beer and dart.
Hope you can read my poor english I can see the faces of our British bikerfriends reading this.
Ok hope this was to some assistant in your search.
Drive safe and maybe we meet on our softails some day.

Hi Ljubi,

Glad you are coming over, unfortunately on the 7th of July I shall be at the VMCC Festival of 1000 Bikes at Mallory Park so I won't be able to meet up with you, but I'm sure Brian & June will take good care of you at Church Farm Guesthouse. Have a good trip.

Re: Looking for B&B in Immingham

Thanks for the info, not going to be riding over this year it seems, but may happen next year. 5-6000 SEK is about 5-600 euros I think, not bad considering the saving in petrol, tolls, and overnights if I do it overland.
