History of Warrs

High there, bit presumptous really but I'm trying to put together a modest history of Warrs and wondered if anyone had any letters/articles/ads going back over the years I could blag. If it's a copy that's fine. If you have any originals you don't want let me know and we'll decide what to do with them.

Re: History of Warrs

Just to confirm - our Scottie is a long-time member of the London Region and that this is a genuine request on the Club's behalf. Please assist him in any way you can.

Cheers,

Pyro

Thumbs up Re: History of Warrs

Thanks Pyro

I had a message from Baza too who suggested that, as I show as a Probationer (one more misdemeaner and I'll loose my freedom?), I'd better give a few reassurances.

1. I'm not a Journo and I don't intend righting a book, I'll leave that to Mr Mutch!
2. I don't intend to profit from my efforts
3. I've been around a while but must have lost my old posting rights as I haven't posted here for yonks
4. Anyone offering stuff will always be shown exactly what I'm putting together and given an absolute option to withdraw or edit material

Can't say fairer than that I guess :-)

Oh and Baza said don't tell anyone I know him because that would lower the tone! LOL

Hi Scott, I would be very interested in a history of Warrs, I've got some FH Warr trasfers that were made for their 25 anniversery, 1950-1975, I used to have a T shirt that I bought off Fred in 1975 that said the same, I always wondered where 1924 comes from!

Re: History of Warrs

Hi there

Sorry about the delay in replying but my computers been in the shop!!! Warrs was established in 1924 so I'm not sure what the 1950 start date was. Perhaps it was the HDRCGB 25th Anniversary. Fred Warr was I believe one of the founder members of the club and is, to this day, a great supporter as well as a founder member.

Thanks for your post, your transfers sound very interesting, I'd love to see a photo copy, scan or a pic of some sort, any chance you send something via email?

I think it would be great to see a proper history of Warrs and I suspect there will be something produced at some point. It's really a question of finding time to collate enough information.

Re: History of Warrs

Scottie, yes you are right about the transfers being the 25th anniversary of the Riders Club, they obviously couldn't count in those days!
The best of luck with your proper history of Warrs.
