Hi Albin,

As Dave says many are on holiday - I'm in Tennessee.

In any event you won't find a lot of comments on here from the Londoners - we're usually too busy working or living in the non-virtual world!

Hope to see you next week at the Harley meet opposite Warr's Thursday evening.

Cheers,

Tony

yo macshot

I think the London region does not do much in the way of rideouts or such. I guess it is due to the hour or so it takes to get out, and then in my opinion, not particularly good roads. (find open invitation to anyone keen to show me otherwise here ) I also think it is the natural wind down due to the winter where many are also putting away their bikes.

I do not have much experience of different regions, but found the Yorkshire region to be very active in ad-hoc rids, which the area naturally lends itself to.

Anyway, I think it is only up to us to increase the activity...

Re: What is going on with London Region?

Hey Ho

Probably make myself unpopular (again!) now but here goes :-)

I have done nearly 3,000 miles on my new bike in the last month so I'm certainly not putting it away for the winter just yet, if at all. My old (02!) Heritage is in the garage with 100,000 miles on the clock awaiting some TLC.

I've ridden to the Wall in Birmingham with HOG where I met several London members. I know several London members rode to Brighton the following day too. I've finished a recce for a Chelsea and Fulham HOG run and will be leading a remembrance Ride on the 8th Novemeber from Warrs (you guys are very welcome to join us too).

I actually got to the London meet in Richmond for the first time this year too but I have attended virtually every meet at the Tupp but sadly Riders Club faces have been rare there this year.

I think what I am trying to say is this the HOG events are frequent and generally well organised for one reason only VOLUNTEERS. It's generally known that in ANY club 99% of the work is done by 1% of the membership. HOG have lots of members so they also have several volunteers (you getting the picture?). If you really want more events then start promoting the club/region and better still start organising events but believe me it's a lot of work (ask Pyro or Baza or anyone else who's active) and often it can be VERY dispiriting but it's the only way to generate activity.

OR... I have found bikers to be solitary fellows in the main. The more biker you are the more solitary you tend to be, it kinda goes with the free spirit thing. That's how the bike clubs came about as fraternities with rituals and strict rules to keep the club together, EVERYONE contributes. The Riders club is somewhere between a fraternity and a social club but isn't that what we want? Not patch but not HOG, you decide.

Ride safe, be free
Scottie

Sad innit!

The more this forum used the more folks will use it - even just to pass the time of day or have a joke with a fellow member. If someone is going on a ride somewhere and puts it on here to see if anyone else would like to join them then it must be useful.

However, no matter what you may think, the financial crisis we are currently experiencing does have an effect on our social activities. (Fun in a virtual world must be better than no fun in the real world, mind you I used to work in London and I'm sorry to say it aint funny. ).

Too damn right Tony. Am trying to figure out some way to get back up there - some form of business idea or another.

Current favourite idea is a micro brewery ... I have close to the funds required to establish a 10 barrel brewery, but that would clean me out so need to be fairly sure about it. Have a mate who has a 5 barrel brewery so will spend a week with him next year (after the 5 month trip to SE Asia) before finally deciding... who knows.

Essentially I think anything can be done - question is do I have the balls to do it?

Yo Scottie - Thanks for the invite. Missus is hoping we go visit her family over the weekend so cannot decide now. Will drop you a line closer to the time if up for it and if no one else has taken up this opportunity. I do not have any clue what the 'Police System of Motorcycle Control' is... but always keen on improving my riding skills..
