Re: Jersey Visit

Sorry, pressed wrong button, here goes:

Day 1 - Fri - 4am

Just about to set off, helmets on etc - Postie's bike wouldn't start, as in, it was all very dead when he turned the key, no turnover of engine or anything. Postie said, "We're not going anywhere!"

10 mins later, after taking the seat off and checking the 'obvious' but he didn't do anything - turned the key and it started, so off we went.

Met Heritage Bob riding his Buell, Chrissy & Hooky and Paul & Kim at Weymouth. Got on the boat.

Docked in Jersey. Blenk, from Jersey, kindly met us from the boat and escorted us back to the campsite. We settled in for a few hours then he came back and collected us for a ride to get something to eat. We went around the whole island with Blenk. Everyone concentrating on the one in front, going round horrendous hairpin bends that can easily catch you out, nasty granite walls all along the edge of the roads, so we go at 25, 30, 40 - wow - change gear, brake again, change gear again, one eye on the one in front, one eye on the beauty of the island.

Several hours later, exhaustion and numb bums setting in, we were within one minute's driving away from returning to the campsite. We were lined up to turn right on an adverse camber at a junction and had to give way to the traffic. Blenk, Heritage Bob,Paul & Kim, Hooky & Chrissy then us. Of note, Jersey's has funny polite ways when on the roads not like England. A tractor is coming from the left and decided to let Bob/us come out of the junction. Car behind tractor went to overtake the tractor. This left Bob with "I'm gonna pull away and then, car coming, perhaps not". So, at 0.11111mph he put on the brake sharpish and the bike fell to the right. Bob is under the bike (his Buell). Everyone trying to get off their bikes to lift bike off of him. His right ankle (when laying there) looked like it was sort of facing the wrong way. He sits up, gets up and moves to the side of the road. After a fag, God knows how, but he insisted on riding back to the campsite. ..... Anyone notice the common denomenator ... two people off their bikes in one week (both on a Friday) and certain people are in attendance at both of them!

Back at the campsite - R I C E - Rest, Ice, Compression, Elevation. Bob was ordered to sit in a chair with his feet up and Ice on top of a teatowel was placed on both legs. He also caught his left leg on the footpeg and this gave him lots of jip, as well as his previous gout problems. Bob's ankle/leg seemed to (both legs) be ballooning..... (more of that evening to be continued in the Quinn)...

Day 2 - Saturday

We all did our own thing. Bob planned to stay on the campsite (he couldn't ride anywhere) and was going to rest but Blenk kindly collected him in his car and babysat Bob at the Harley Davidson Dealership for the day, so Bob munched on Blenk's homemade curry in the hot sunshine.

That evening Chrissy returned from the Jersey War Tunnels with blisters all over her feet, top and bottom.

Day 3 - Sunday

Bob was determined to ride to Blenk's suggested ideallic breakfast spot after his morning Jacuzzi with Postie! ...... (more to that in the Quinn) ... as his swellings had gone down slightly. He did ride to breakfast, bloody marvellous (or mad). Got stuck on one bit cus his right knee just went dead.

After breakfast Bob rode with Postie and me to the War Tunnels. Looked round, cups of tea, long natters etc, time to go back to campsite. Postie's bike was dead again ...... More dead than last time..... Won't go at all! Blenk sorted us out again, together with the insurance company etc. Bob went to campsite by himself (and got lost) - only 10 mins to home. We went to the HD place in the recovery van with bike (Postie's Buell). Buell mechanic sorted out the problem in 20/30 mins. It was a bad earth.

We got back to the campsite where Chrissy was laid up cus she'd had a migraine, or sunstroke, or perhaps both for most of Sunday.

In amongst all this, we had the pleasure of meeting Steve (Ochstephen) who came to Jersey in his travels and is trying to decide which region he should join (bet it's not 19 with our trials and tribulations) as he's presently moving around a lot. He'll fit in well cus he's just as mad as us lot.

Day 4 - Monday

We piled back on the boat at 10.35am and came home.

So, although it was a funny old weekend, I think we all enjoyed ourselves. Beautiful scenery, met some great people, had a bl**dy good laugh and we couldn't have wished for better weather.

All we gotta do now is wait to hear from Bob. He's probably got very bad ear ache from his mrs (and quite rightly so) and we hope he's gonna get himself checked out at his local hospital........ that's an order Bob, at long last from me cus you weren't gonna take any notice in Jersey were you ......

Re: Jersey Visit

Glad you all enjoyed it and had a good time. It was great to be able to put faces to some of the names on here and show you a bit of our little Island.

If anyone else is thinking of visiting then please pm me or Blenk - we would be happy to help out and show you around
