But today at work i had the chance to drive a steam train ,
never was all excited about steam as my job is to repair and refurb railway rolling stock.
But having been privilaged enough to "have a go" i was well surprised how much fun it was

a very different experience to the normal day !!

My Grandad was a draughtmans on the 'inside' (Swindon Works) and I was a day border at prior Park in Bath, which meant that most weekends I came home . My grandad used to meet me off of the train on a Friday night and take me around the running shed and works, which in the 50's was pretty impressive and 99% steam

I 'cabbed' a ride on Morthoe another WC from the sheds to the station and I remember every minute. It was to pull an SLS Special, that came up from Brighton and was then off to the Midlands...

For an 11 year old it was 'happy days'...
