Unfortunately not. It was a bank holiday. I even drove around Friday afternoon trying to find a caravan in a lay- by. We had the choice of taking the food off site, leaving none, or leaving it. We had repeated assurances from the caterer that he would sort it.

We also had take-away menus at the gate and there were regular supplies of excellent pizza and Chinese coming in.

Re: walesby -summing up

i went up to the club stand in the beer tent yesterday morning and got the little orange badge. ( the 1 with the add on bits)
wanted the 2009 rocker to go on it and he said they didnt make 1 cos of the aniversary badge.

is it me or is that a bit silly???
considering anyone who has had that badge for a while n has the 2008 rocker will then have to jump to 2010.

other then that my weekend was rather splendid lol

Was delivered in June then

No only joking. I was lucky with most of mine. A VERY nice pint.

I see more than I really want to of both contract and roadside caterers and to tell the truth, I think the standard is dropping rapidly all round.

Re: walesby -summing up

Shame the food was crap, but in the scheme of things, didnt really matter that much, we are all resourcefull, and there was good old Tescos and the chippy.
Although I cant see why catering is so shit and I know its not the organisers fault. Appears all checks were done...

I feel we get the piss taken, its just not our rallies...

Maybe we should do our own catering...? and ex Army Field cooks (sorry Chefs) out there in the club...!!

it would be a piece of cake for you boys especially with a field kitchen...

Re: walesby -summing up

I would like to add my congratulations to all the organisers of HDRCGB 60th anniversary rally. As most of you are aware I was the one who thought that having the rally at Walesby would be a disaster, both financially and geographically. Circumstances have prevented me from attending rallys this year, but Sue and I managed to call in for an hour on Saturday to say hello to friends. It was good to see so many people there and enjoying what looked to be a fantastic rally with a really good atmosphere.
I didnt manage to say hello to some of the people I wanted to see because I was 'spannering' on a mobility scooter! And we had very little time.
Sorry I didnt get to say hello to Baza who I am sure would have made me run three laps of the site shouting 'I was wrong, I was wrong'.
It would be nice to think that this rally was the start of more of the club attending the national rally. All being well we will see you all at he national next year if not before.

Thanks Steve. I appreciate what it took to say that. Shall we start again?
