Air ambulance donation

Few of us went to see the Hampshire Air Ambulance today - very interesting,they go to a lot of bike crashes. We gave them 1000 pounds which was the 750 from the club which as you know went to our region this year and 250 raised at our Rally.

A great day and a very worthy cause, at £92,000 a month to keep them in the air so these guys need every penny!

On an average day they see 4 ops (we were lucky, they had quiet day today), last week end they had 10 ops. Next big expense for them is a more up to date helicopter , current one is 30 years old and the pilot thought it was now only worth about £450,000
Built by Messerschmitt (German), two engines run on diesel at 52000 rpm and use 3kg (0.9 gal) of fuel a minute, bit like a Harley then
They can be in the air within 4 minutes after safety checks with two paramedics.

Had a very pleasant bumble back through Middle Wallop, Stockbridge and Romsey stopping for lunch and refreshments of course (Five Bells and Three cups......), nice one Dave S
