Leakproof Fork Seals.

Hi Everybody.

Spotted these at Motohaus Home

All you have to do is click on the leakproof seal button.

I dont know if they'll fit HD's, but you never know.

There's plenty of other stuff to look at on the motohaus site aswell.

We sell Motohaus products (not an advert, wait for it, we are answering a question) and there are H-D fitments available. If you do not know what size seals you require you can always call us and we will let you know.

Re: Leakproof Fork Seals.

I don't want to piss on anyone’s camp fire, but leak proof forks seals have been around for a very long time, working on the floating principle, I used some in a Triumph well over 25 years ago.

The point of this:-

"Lifetime Guarantee
Provided that the seals have been correctly installed and the associated fork components are in serviceable condition, each and every set of Leak Proof Seals is backed by our LIFETIME GUARANTEE."

Most forks leak because: -

1 the seal is worn

2 the fork tube is worn

3 the fork tube is chipped or scratched and cuts the seal or more likely a combination of all.

2 & 3 will not be covered by the guarantee.

Most people who have problems with forks still leaking after replacing the seals is due to worn or damaged tubes or even putting the seal in upside down!

So leak proof forks seals are not necessarily the fix all answer some people think they are, they will not solve problems with worn parts and might well not even last any longer or be that easier to fit than the originals!

Leak proof seals have been around since 1970, at one time they were OEM suppliers for Triumph.

To my knowledge no manufacturer is going to give a warranty that covers the condition of parts not supplied by them and must have some clause to ensure that the part is correctly fitted otherwise it would be a free for all (and if you fit a seal in upside down then perhaps you shouldn't be fitting it in the first place)

As you say Leak proof seals are not a cure all for leaky forks, but as a replacement seal they are a superior alternative to the OEM seals.

I have never experienced a leak on a set of forks fitted with these seals but then again if another comonent was found to be worn when replacing the seal then I would replace that component too.

After all you wouldn't fit new pistons and saving a few bob by not replacing the rings at the same time....
