Carb Icing - a solution

RIDE bike magazine recommend Silkolene PRO FST to avoid carb icing.

The problem occurs because the carb is acting like a fridge, feezing moisture in the in-coming air and blocking the jet. It only happens when air temperature is a couple of degrees above freezing, any colder and the moisture in the air has already frozen and fallen as frost. Once the carb is iced your stuck until the heat from the engine thaws the jet and allows fuel back through (about 5-10 mins). Slosh a bit of Pro FST in the tank when you fill up. It will disolve the ice as it forms, curing the problem instantly. Silcolene have also added lubricants to look after the carb and top-end on cold days.

Or even better.... fit a Mikuni HSR carb.. no 'farting back' and no icing
And no having to carry a lap-top and expensive software to re-map the on-board computer settings

or...... take it here

HD's computer workshop for Fuel Injection Monstrosities

Re: Carb Icing - a solution

You could just put some decent petrol in it and tune it properly

Or only ride it when it's warm & sunny
