Red face Harley Virgin

Hello to everyone

I have recently past my motorcycle test, having given up biking in my 20's due to Rugby, kids etc.

I promised myself that I would one day buy a Harley and now the time has come; it's a pity I left it until I reached 46 yrs old.

I have been looking at Harley's everywhere when I have been out on business and after much deliberation I have decided the Fatboy is for me. However, having read a lot of the threads, I am now starting to have second thoughts!!

I only want to buy one Harley and keep it. I was not intending buying a new one, as the advice seems to be, let someone else spend the money doing all the mods before they trade it in for the "must have" new version.

When all said and done I will probably go with my instincs and buy a Fat Boy, but I would be pleased to hear any of your comments / advice.

Rgds

Slimboy Fat

P.S. Is autumn / winter a good time to find bargains on the forecourts??

Is that an observation or a concern?

Re: Harley Virgin

Hey Slimboy;

Welcome to the forum.

Although you should receive some good advice from the members of this forum, you should also be prepared for some p!ss-taking. There is really no reason why you should not go for exactly the model you think you're going to stay with. It may well not work out that way, but why take the long way around? All kinds of people ride all kinds of Harleys; don't let any notions of who's riding what put you off the model you desire. If the Fatboy rings your bell, get it. ;)

As for being 46 now that you're looking at a Harley - I was 63! My first bike, and my first Harley was, and is, a V-Rod.

Welcome to the site and the "wonderfull" world of harleys,
a fatboy is a great bike,

you have decided on a harley go for it, unlike Mr Bear who is still under the misguided impression that the V-Rod is actually a Harley

Re: Harley Virgin

Eh up Slim. Not many forecourts around for Harleys, but traditionally winter is a good time to buy. Check out ebay, a good source or research and purchase if you are very careful. Poeple seem a little concerns about the new 07s effecting the values of the former bikes. Maybe an interesting time for a buy.

At the end of the day the "right" Harley is a huge question and only your own Harley journey will tell you which bike, and even if a Harley is your bag. Take some dealer test drives, do your reseach and ask in the relevant sections you'll get lots of help from others who know their stuff. Good luck.
