Nicks European tour

The bas***ds at work have decided to let me go with a small redundancy payment to send me on my way. Anyway with life shitty bits comes the opportunity to do something interesting, jump on the bike and tour Europe.

My plan is head down the Dover take the ferry across to France and run along the west coast to Spain and Sans Sebastian. From there I’m heading to Portugal with the potential to take a ferry across to Morocco for a little tour round before returning to Spain.

I don’t want to hug the coast all the time so I’m looking for suggestions for travelling back up through Spain and into France again. I’m aiming to run along the Mediterranean coast into Italy as far down as Sicily for a tour of the island and make myself known to the Don Coleone family and associates.

Once I have paid my respects I will be travelling to the other side of Italy and may take the boat ride over to Bosnia and Croatia and start to head by to UK.

I have minimum 2 months to play with so can take my time and see places of interest as well as drinking as much as I can along the way. What I’m looking for is members to post places they have been I that I must see and any comments on places to stay good local food and places to avoid.

The bike is serviced and ready to go. I hoping to head off the first week of August any comments, tips would be welcome.

Re: Nicks European tour

Sorry to hear your news Nick but like you say, an opportunity has arisen so grasp it by the short n curlies and go for it.
I need to investigate my memory cells about a vineyard worth visiting with truly stunning views over St Tropez and the wine's pretty good too, will get back to you soon.
All the best
Mike

Wow, best of luck with that, Nick!

Club member Dave Cannell did EXACTLY that trip quite a few years ago, and he may well be able to give you some pointers. He now lives in the Carcassone region of southern France.....

PM me

Dave

Re: Nicks European tour

Nick, around the St Tropez area look out for a village in the hills to the South called Gassin that has panoramic views right across the bay to St Tropez and is as good at night as it is in the day.
I can't now remember the name of the vineyard but I'll keep looking and try to get it to you.
Isn't Google Earth a wonderful thing?
