New shop in Darlington

I saw in the trade services section the new shop in Darlington called Sledgehammer Custom's. It's run by a bloke called Gerry who was chief mechanic at Just Harley's in Newcastle. He says he was there for donkey's years and now it's time to go it alone. The bloke is a mine of all things Harley and I'm well impressed with his knowledge. I've just come home from a quick "recce" to check out the "shop" and was made to feel very welcome and spent a couple of hours there drinking tea and generally having a good craic and getting to know him and his oppo's. I think this guy is going to do very well here in Darlington and I urge you all to go and say howdoo and perhaps give him some custom, for e.g. a full 10,000 service on my sportster is just over £280! half what a "Stealer" would charge. And his love for all things Harley is obvious once you get talking to him. I'm sure some of you may well know him from his newcastle days.
So as the saying goes "use him of lose him" it really is up to us.
The shop is a bit of a bitch to find 'cos he ain't allowed to put up any sign's just yet, so give him a ring first if you 're not sure where Crosby St is.
I will just add, I have nothing to do with the guy, I was just very impressed that's why I put this on here.
P.s it's not the sort of shop to buy your Harley mugs and teddy bears and crap and other such shite, it's just a workshop.

Re: New shop in Darlington

Are you sure that price is right for the 10,000 mile service? Seems bloody expensive - I was quoted £330 for a 30,000 mile service on my Wide Glide at the back end of 2007 by a dealership (Doncaster).

I just spoke to Jerry, incidentley the shop is nothing to do with me either he's just a mate, he was delighted to hear of some positive feedback from this forum, but if you would allow me to make a correction he says the price for the 10,000 mile service is actually £280, and don't forget the club discount .

Sorry folks I believe it's what's called a "typo", I should've read it thoroughly before posting.

If it is the Jerry I am thinking of, he is very well known in the NE and has a pretty good rep. No stranger to Jah Rastafari sounds either!

Yeah that sound like the fella. He was blasting out "The boys are back in town" by "Thin lizzy" when I went into the workshop though!!

Re: New shop in Darlington

Hi All - I took my 883 to Jerry yesterday to get the brakes fixed. At last the bike is now fixed and we did a 120 mile ride out today. I'll be taking her back for the full service soon. Great bloke to deal with.

Good Luck to Jerry & the Guys at Sledgehammer in their new venture.
