I was laughing with my brother today, that we are the largest brewery in the north east now. Seriously it's a very sad day for north east brewing, the dog is a world wide icon and now it's to be brewed in Tadcaster, what the hell is going on ? I thought Newcastle Brown Ale was a protected food stuff, just like Melton pork pies and jersey royal tatties, fecking globalisation will be the riun of us all.

Well according to the north east news tonight it's Cameron's Lion brewery in Hartlepool who are now the largest brewery in the north east! Mind you, your brew is much nicer to drink! |

Is Hartlepool classed as the North East or is it part of France ? You are right Camerons are bigger than us, but we make Wallsend Brown Ale, so there.

| Re: Newcastle brown Much as I like Gary's ale, I used to be rather partial to Camerons' Ruby, 'specially after a hard day on the footplate at the North Yorkshire Moors railway. You can keep your Lucozade and all that other overpriced "rehydration" crap; few pints of good draught bitter does the same job.

Don't mock Tadcaster brewing. There's three breweries there, not bad for a small town, originally using there own private bore holes for brewing. (Alas they now brew a lot of l a g e r stuff and use purified tap water) But they still brew real ale in the old tradition though nothing like the amount they did prior to the mid 70's. I'm sure Newkie Brown will be as good as ever.

Kev if you like a good Ruby come to the bowling in Morecombe were all going for one oh for those that have never been to Morecombe before its Twinned with Grange over Sands or to use its other name "The home of the undead"

Will it be renamed Tadcaster Amber - or something similar - and have a Yorkshire rose with perhaps the York Minster cameoed inside the outline? If I was talented with photoshop (which I'm not) and not so pissed (which I am) I'd come up with a suggested new label.... ![]() Might start drinking the stuff now its coming darn sarf.. |
