Question Why Shrophire and North Wales ?

Before anyone comments on the fact that Shropshire is not in Wales ……………

The answer is ………………. Yes, we know !

Logistically it was easier to set up a sub-region to an active neighbouring region, also it would make sense for it to be the region where the Shropshire folk would most likely travel to for a regional meeting.

Parts of the modern County of Shropshire were once in Wales and nearly the whole of the County’s western and northern border joins onto Mid and North Wales.

Thank God for that - I thought I was losing my marbles. My previous job used to take me to the Telford/Wellington area about once a week and I could never remember crossing the border.. . Best Wishes.

A great idea to set up this 'sub region' after all, there is just the small matter of Offa's Dyke (Clawdd Offa) separating Wales from Shropshire.

However, for the historians among us, I think it might be a good idea to forget that it was customary for the English to cut off the ears of every Welshman who was found to the east of the dyke, and for the Welsh to hang every Englishman whom they found to the west of it.

Ah, being from Shoesbrey meself I thought you might like these little gems, might help keep them maurading Celts from 'our' towns
Strange but true Laws!
Another says you can shoot a Welsh person all day on a Sunday, with a longbow in the Cathedral Close, Hereford.
It is no more relaxing for the Welsh if they make another expedition just across the English border, to Chester. There, an ancient law says Welsh people can be shot with a bow and arrow inside the city walls and after midnight.

Sounds fair enough to me
