RTTW 2009 - Sat 10th Oct - Meet 8am Montford

Hi

Right ...... finally got my arse into gear!

Have been on the RTTW website and registered. For those of you that want to come along but haven't got round to it already, the web site is:

RTTW - Ride to the Wall

I suggest we meet at Montford Bridge picnic area at from 7.45am on Saturday morning. This will give us a chance to group up, grab a cuppa and bacon butty if required, and then depart from there 8.15am.

See below the latest update from the RTTW website:

Arriving at Drayton Manor
Looking at the forum and proposed group rides we are concerned that there may be a large proportion of riders planning to arrive 10:00 to 10:30. Can we ask that you try and arrive earlier as we do not want riders still trying to get in as the ride starts to depart.
On the Ride
Please , Ride with Respect - Not to impress . Please keep to a 40mph limit and do not overtake . The ride will be broken up into sections but the route is fully marshaled so you cannot get lost . Splitting up the ride helps with parking at the Arboretum as it should help prevent jams and waiting there.
If you want to ride with your friends , please arrive with them or arrange to meet up before entering Drayton Manor
Parking at the Arboretum
If you cannot stay for the service please do not park in the Arboretum. There are other designated parking areas outside. Many attendees have commented that during the service last year bikes were leaving from within the Arboretum grounds which they considered disrespectful.
No engines are to be started during the service (13:30 - 14:00)
Sidestands - In case of inclement weather you are asked to bring a Sidestand support ('Parking Puck') as these will not be available on the day. At the time of my last visit (29/9/09) the ground at the Arboretum is very firm but should the weather change prior to the event this may no longer be the case.
Smoking
The Arboretum is a 'No Smoking ' Area. Please respect their rules.
The Wall
A half hour before and during the service access to the wall itself will berestricted. Please assemble for the service at the foot of the wall mound.
Committee and Helpers - Hi Vis
Following last years yellow Hi Vis jackets logo'd jackets not being distinctive (a lot of other people had yellow hi vis on also ) we are pleased to announce that this years ones are blue with silver lettering to be more distinctive. If you have any questions on the day, please find someone wearing one of these . If they don't know the answer they should know someone who does !.
T Shirts
These were posted Monday 28/9/09 for those who pre ordered.
Wreaths
Should you wish to lay a wreath at the wall of the Arboretum you'll need to contact : Lyn at the Arboretum to discuss and place the order .She can be contacted on Telephone 01283 792333.
The cost will be £20 however she is happy to collect the money on the day. If you are a H-D HOG Chapter your Director should have been made aware that we have permission from HOG to use the HOG logo. Please remember she will need plenty of notice if you want a wreath with your chapter logo on,so don't delay.
By Car
If you know of anyone traveling to the Arboretum by car it is suggested that you arrive before 11:00 as parking will be at a premium.
Post Event function
There will be an organised Post Event function that everyone is welcome to attend . This will take place at Silverstone Harley Davidson . An organised ride will leave from the Fradley Arms at 15:30. . The Fradley Arms is on the A38 South only a short distance from the Arboretum.

To find the picnic area type in Montford Bridge into google maps.

If you look on the A5, its the squiggly white bit just south of the River

You can also check the following link:

Mark,

Me and Dave Kib met at the midway on the A41 last year, PM him `cos I am sure we are doing the same this year.
We might even meet up with the Salop crew on the A5.

Re: RTTW 2009 - Sat 10th Oct - Meet 8am Montford

OK here are the Club's (not Region's) plans for RTTW.
  • There will be a HDRCGB hospitality tent at Drayton Manor on Friday night and Saturday morning. There will be tea, coffee and snacks for sale (50p each) with all profits going to RTTW. Thanks to Urrell for donating his sausage rolls
  • There will be HDRCGB banners on the tent, so you should be able to find us
  • Please support us and get your refreshments from the Club
  • For those who want to ride as/with HDRCGB, please park near to the hospitality tent before 10:30 am for the 11:00 official start time
  • If you have Region flags, you can always fly them on the bike and promote your Region and the Club. There is the option to ride with the overall RTTW flag parade which leads out the ride (seperate parking area at Drayton Manor), or ride with fellow HDRCGB members from our hospitality tent
  • For those camping on Friday night at Drayton Manor, I am hoping to have the hospitality tent up and running (still need to get some lighting sorted so may be a little dark )
  • I will be bringing the Club poppy wreath to be laid during the RTTW Service. I would suggest the ex-forces Club members choose who should perform the actual laying. Kev (ex-Royal Engineers) is hoping to get there but may not make it.
...and finally a personal request from me and Jain from Central Mercia, who are having to come in cars with all the hospitality stuff, so we would like to get a pillion ride with someone...any offers ?

Geoff

Re: RTTW 2009 - Sat 10th Oct - Meet 8am Montford

Hi All

Just wondering if there is anyone coming??

Looks like it might be cloudy and dull .... but as far as I can tell from the various sites, should stay dry!

Hope to see some of you in the morning.

Will be trying to find the hospitality tent when arriving at Drayton Manor, so if we don't meet on route, will hopefully some of you there.

Cheers
Ruth
