Advanced Riding Course - £30!!

Just to let you all know that they had a Shropshire Road Safety display at the Stormy Petrol last night.

Turns out they're promoting subsidised riding courses for advanced and defensive riding techniques. Normally £120, anyone who rides in Herefordshire, Shropshire, Warwickshire or Worcester can get it for £30. If you meet standards you can get a certificate and be eligible for insurance discount!

Already booked mine! Contact them by calling 0845 3709191 or emailing info@90-one.com

Hi Ruth, do you have to live in those areas or just ride in them,
occasionally

Re: Advanced Riding Course - £30!!

That's how it's worded on the document! Slightly woolly, but I would take it to mean ride in the area. Worth a call maybe?

Mind you - I see North Wales police are offering advanced rider training - see link below

Re: Advanced Riding Course - £30!!

I've rung up Tony and the course is for anyone who rides through any of those counties. So that means anyone is eligible really.

I've booked in for next Saturday 30th May, anyone else fancy going that day?
The ratio is 2 to 1 so we need another bod if possible. Meeting 9 am in the Shrewsbury area, you can call Tony direct on 07946 441 465

Just to say I did this course on Monday with Tony from 90-One and can thoroughly recommend it, we had a great day's riding despite the heavens opening on the way back.

The course is really flexible and can be tailored to individual requirements, so if there's an particular area/skill you want to focus on just ask. For me as a relatively inexperienced rider it was great to push the boundaries a bit on my Harley and even getting soaked didn't dampen my enjoyment.

Re: Advanced Riding Course - £30!!

I had a great day out and can thoroughly recommend it to all.
Tony took me out, one to one and gave me some really important pointers on how I could improve my riding.

After 20 odd years since I passed my test this was my first examination I have had of my riding. Tony pointed out two areas where I can improve my safety, on right handers I need to position myself further to the left and when passing oncoming traffic I need again to move further to the left.

For £30 those two pointers are well worth it, on top of that he had logged a route through mid Wales and down into full on Taff country. Funny how when I travel down South I use the same old routes and blasting around yesterday made me realise how much more our doorstep has to offer.

The A488 being one route I'll be taking again soon. Loads of bends, red kites and the village of Clun- clocked a couple of pubs that need a further recce!

So after a 350+ mile day out, one to one advice and an exploration of fine roads I reckon I got my monies worth. And one day when I'm implementing one of his pointers I may get a bit of extra warning when an oncoming car strays into my lane and I've calculated an escape- priceless.

Sounds great! Got mine at the end of the month so a bit longer to wait yet. I think he may find he'll have more than two pointers for me though! LOL
