Springtime Event 2009

Hiya Peeps,

I know that it's only the start of Winter and that the lighter evenings of next Springtime seem a long way away at the moment. So to give you something to look forward to when the sun reappears sometime in April I thought I'd start the ball rolling with ideas for next year.

Some of you may know that I had started work on organising a Rallying/Orienteering event for the 60th International. Now it's no longer being held in Oswestry how's about doing it anyway. I have done most of the work and it would be a pity to throw it in the bin.

The basic idea is that the competition would be held on one day, probably a Saturday in April or May. All those who take part are given a map with way points marked and it is up to each individual to decide which they want to visit. Each way point is given a points score and the person who has collected the most points by a set time would be the winner.

The way points are dotted all over the best riding areas of North Wales and are located near Cafes and pubs and/or beauty spots. At each way point there will be a point of interest and to prove that a competitor has visited a way point they would write on a prepared sheet the answer to a specific question relating to that spot. An example would be- How much is a cup of tea at the Ogwen valley caff?

Different way points would be given their own points score and those in isolated hard to find areas would be given a higher score than those easy to find and close to the start. Thus rewarding the most adventurous and hard riding for making the effort to cover some miles.

Hopefully a fun event for our region and one that would be easy to do one sunny Saturday next year.

It's such a shame all your hard work won't be enjoyed by all the Region's, but at least you had fun doing it
I think it would be an excellent idea, an would be great for all our members spread all over N. Wales. Have you put it on the new sub region, sure Shropshire lass and crew would like to join us?
I'd love to join in, long time till April, plenty of time for me to try an find a lift, perhaps you could ask around an see if any of your mates would like a well behaved pillion for the day? Willin to buy them dinner as long as they don't scare me
Will you be joinin us at Steve's on the 9th Nov?

Not sure what I'm doing that weekend,
maybe going to Worcester but it ain't final yet.
If I'm about I'll try to be there.

I'll be posting on other regions boards closer to the date.
Was thinking of having the starting point somewhere like the Ponderossa or alternatively a pub with a camping field! Watch this space
