Ride to Walesby

At our meet last Sunday and taking into account feedback from others, this is the route that I came up with ! It's probably the most direct route, a distance of about 101 miles from Wrexham to Walesby, and also includes some great roads by some strange coincidence !

Wrexham seemed a good central place to meet up, so we decided to meet up at the Four Dogs at 2pm on the Friday for a 2.30 start. Hopefully that will give those that have to work in the morning enough time to get there. For those that didn't make the meeting on Sunday, see the August Meeting thread for directions to the Four Dogs.

The route goes via Nantwich, Congleton then the good bit, the A54 to Buxton. We plan on stopping at Buxton at a suitable watering hole (will publish details later) which would be a good place for any others to join us. It's about 56 miles to Buxton and should take us about an hour and a quarter, so we should be there around 3.45pm. The route then takes us via Chesterfield to Walesby.

Don't worry Marcus, you go at your own pace. As we are having a stop off in Buxton then it'll be fine to regroup there- I intend to blatt some of the way so I can stop in Buxton and grab a sarnie, a pint, have a couple of fags, perhaps walk around the town, buy a postcard, pick my nose and then hang about a bit for you.

Cool Jon thats what always happens to me, everyone gets a rest then I turn up and everyone is ready to go. Used to happen to me on mountain walks in groups, I used to be last and by the time i caught up, everyone had had their sarnies, a kip, read maps and stuff, had another kip, and were well ready to go.

Three weeks ago I enetered the Oswestry Triathlon (please do not ask why because I cannot answer you) I came 111th out of...................111. And you know what Not one person waited for to catch up, not even my own wife. Still being last has gotta be better than just being average Hasn't it

Anyway for anyone who does have to suffer having a pint, fag, somthing to eat, maybe another fag, waiting for me I apologise now

Hi Sam, yes we will be crossing the 41 at Broxton, we could meet you here and pick up some fresh cakes !

Is Everything still rosey for a 2 oclock meet at the 4 dogs on Friday. Packed my rucksack today, cant wait
