Poppy Run to France & Belgium

For those of you who may not visit the main body of the site, here is a copy of the post I posted earlier today, about 5 mins ago

Thanks for that BF.

I arrived home at 22.35 hrs on Saturday 2.9.06

For those of you still interested in the ride, some stats are.

1. Total miles 1832

2. Total fuel £165.06 + 1 ltr Oil

3. Most miles in 1 day 499 from Brionne to Liverpool (last day) 10.00 hrs start out, 22.35 hrs arrive home, inc 3 hrs on ferry and stops on the way.

4. Visits to Ieper (Ypres)included Menin Gate, Hill 62 Passendale (trenches) Tine Cot cemetery.

There was lots more but I don't want to bore the uninterested.

For your information, I have raised over £600.00 for the RBL Poppy appeal, and I would like to thank those of you, including the anonymous person from this web site, who donated £50.00, for your generosity.

It was a trip that I enjoyed, sombre, sobering and thought provoking at times, but I had a good time with a bunch of serving and retired forces lads who have no political aim other than to have a good time and raise money for a British Charity.

Food for thought...........

Ray

Nice one Ray. Speaking as an ex serviceman you and your comrades on the trip deserve a very large pat on the back. The country as a whole often overlooks the role the Armed Forces play, so things like this can always help, not only financialy but with publicity as well. Maybe the club would like to do some events with this in mind. Remember those who have served and those who still serve. Food for thought. Glad you had a good trip and didnt get your feet wet.
