Sillets tyres Aberdeen

I was speaking to Rob Sillet whilst getting a tyre changed on another bike,
and Rob was saying he does not give a ride in service if its a harley.

The wheel has to be removed and taken in to him?

This is not a problem as my bike is new but I was wondering what the rest of you do? I will need new tyres sooner or later.

I am sure I took my sportser to him but it was a chain driven bike.

I like Rob and have alot of time for him, but he thinks it takes a long time to get the rear wheels off, I have not tried yet on my softtail.

You'll find that most tyre places prefer you to take your wheels in - less work for them. It's no big deal to drop a Softail back wheel though. Invest in a bike lift of some sort, get the bike off the ground & once you've pulled the shaft, flipped the belt over the pulley & massaged your brake caliper the wheel will just drop out - could be a pain if you don't use a lift as you'd have to jack the bike up on the side stand & wrestle the wheel out ..

Thanks mate, I hope to buy a lift in the near future.

The lift seems essiential, in an earlier posting someone suggested the
machine mart lift which looks good.

I suppose it will be something that once youve done its ok.

Hi LB - I did a photo run-through on my '03 FXST when I took the wheels off for tyres. it's a Word doc, and about 2Mb.
If you send me a PM with your e-mail address, I'll send it to you if you want...
I used the Clarke Lift from Machine Mart. Works fine with a bit of care... West-Coast HD did another style for £99.99. Looked OK, and for the first time in history, something from a dealer was actually less expensive than what you could get elsewhere....
