Scottish fuel shortage!!

I've maybe missed something, but, how much would it cost BP or whoever to meet the employee's requirements ?

Way I see it to these multi billion £££ industry's it would be peanut's yet they choose to allow the shut down Grangemouth at a cost of £50 million a day, also it takes a week to shut, for a 2 day strike, then another week to start back up again
Is it feckin me!!
Diesel was £128.9 a litre here on wednesday, today £131.9 and the panic buying has started already

Just seems a complete no brainer to me,not that I understand the politics of this crap.

Re: Scottish fuel shortage!!

And having just got back from the states they are up in arms that diesel is costing $4.25 a gallon!!!!

That's about 48pence a litre..........

But the petrol/gas we bought was only $3.45 a US Gallon for regular.

Re: Scottish fuel shortage!!

Another bugbear, though possibly not related, dont suppose many folk in the south use heating oil,but a lot of old folk up here have converted to oil as opposed to the traditional peat which is free apart from the work involved in cutting it and turning it etc.
It's another no brainer though because you can get free heat, cooking, hot water and even drying clothes for a few days labour with the peat.
An oil coversion generally involves removal of the AGA or Rayburn stove [worth a fortune down south, but scrapped up here]to be replaced with a oil fired combi boiler, and here's the rub,18p a litre 4 years ago,57p a litre now,and not many folk can afford to go back to traditional way's

Re: Scottish fuel shortage!!

Remeber the National news this week,
when a Kirkcaldy station was charging £1.45 per litre of Deisel
and £1.25 for unleaded, the dearest prices in SCOTLAND
well heres what happened to the greedy buggers.
Attachment 5431
The Company(RIX) withdrew the contract to supply fuel, and no one else will touch them,
this garage is only 50 metres from my house, have a guess
at which Ethnic Race the owners belong too......
Not a hard one is it ?????
