Volunteering

After last year's less than successful rally, I recall putting my name down on a thread about volunteering for this year's rally, along with a few others.

I'm putting together my list of rallies and runs, and generally arranging my hectic social calendar (truely), and I don't want to sign up for something else if I'm going to be contacted about helping out.

Is/has anyone been asked to contact those of us that offered to help? If so, any idea when we might get the nod? Is this going to be raised at the AGM?

I'm asking because I was one of those that posted on another thread after last year saying how little I'd enjoyed it, and how instead of just complaining, I'd like to help this year. If I then thought it was poor, at least in part, it's be down to me as well. If I'm part of the club, and believe me I like to think I am, I'd like to see the national rally succeed, bigtime.

Cheers

Baff

Apologies for the tardy reply, only just seen this.

Your comments noted; the issue will indeed be raised at the AGM, if not by me then by someone else.

Your offer of help is gratefully accepted; I don't at this stage have a specific job for you to do but I'll soon think of one.

Thanks mate; I like your attitude on this one. We'd like to make the 60th a bit special and with the help of your good self and others, we can and will do just that.

Remember this thread?

I recall on 6th September, Sue posted thus:

A number of peeps volunteered (seven or eight by my count) on that thread to help this year. I'm surprised (well, not really surprised I'm sorry to say) that I haven't been contacted. Has anyone else?

I started this thread in March and apart from Kev's initial response have heard squat. I'm surprised no one used those names from the earlier thread to at least get a core of helpers.

I'm not going to be sympathetic after the event if it all goes tits up.

Re: Volunteering

I volunteered but not heard a thing,
organisation must have been sorted by now,
a bit late otherwise!

Sue has been off ill for several months as a result of which communication with potential volunteers has been lacking.

Unless people have a specific area of expertise, the form in the past has been just turn up, make yourself known to a committee member and your help will be gratefully accepted .......... simple !

What Mog said. Bear in mind though that if you've booked a bunkhouse, these are NOT available Thursday night. We will be able to camp, and there should be a caterer on site Thursday night so there will be breakfast available Friday morning; I will confirm this later in the week.

If you are up for helping , please let me or another steering committee member (Phillspace, Buff, Roger) know in good time.

Even MORE important perhaps, we would be very grateful for assistance on the Monday to take the rally down. We will also need rideout marshals, ideally with a working knowledge of the local area.

Re: Volunteering

good to see the few turn up on Thursday to help set up for the many - no doubt it will be the same on the Monday.
