Re: If there was no helmet law of any kind, would you wear one?

When I first saw Easy Rider in 1970, Fonda had his helmet strapped to the top of the cissy bar, which I thought was so cool. So, of course I did the same.

The thought brings me out in a cold sweat now though. Also, there was much less traffic around in those days.

44 years ago I would have voted usually but now it has to be always.
I occasional move the bike about at walking pace on bike nights and it sounds GREAT but safety has to come first.

Made me cringe to see lots of sports bike riders out last weekend with bare arms, shorts and trainers

if you'd seen all the big vivid red glops of blood and the crease across the top of sue's helmet, it's a no brainer unless you're wearing one

Re: Poll: If there was no helmet law of any kind, would you wear one?

I remember being gutted as a child when the helmet law was intoruduced just a few years before I was going to be old enough to ride and would definately not have worn one if it hadn't existed when I got my first bike in 1977. However, after a few flying lessons and bounces down the road I was very glad that the law did exist and now believe that the law is a good and correct one. On the otherhand I also have to be honest and say that if it did not exist, I would from time to time be unable to resist the urge and go out without one on, just as I occasionally give in to the need to do the T-shirt thing! When I do that, I ride in the same manner I ride when my son goes on the back, but we all know, it just takes another moron on the road to spoil our day regardless of how careful we are. So I voted "Usually" cos I know I just could not resist when the weather is like this

If you have an expensive head then wear a decent helmet if your head or brain is worthless then go without simple.

There is no way I would go 100 yds without a lid.

I'm another one that has done their fair share of bouncing down roads, tracks, through windscreens etc, etc. Things is, you dont bounce so well as you get older and it bloody well hurts.

I'll always wear a helmet and a spine protector...and sun tan lotion.
