Resurrect the Winter Web Party

Set up on behalf of Shropshire Lass

Quote:
We've got a cracking venue that has been made available to us in Oswestry. Looking at getting it going again in February 2012 as an opportunity for club members to meet up with friends and meet new ones in the dull "Xmas is over but still to crappy to get the bike out" lull.

Re: Resurrect the Winter Web Party

More information (some selling points):

Potential dates would be either of the last 2 weekends of February 2012. Opportunity to get rid of the post Xmas blues

The venue is on the edge of the town centre close to some nice real ale pubs. The Fox and The Vaults in particular do some very nice bear

It's also 2 minutes from the Simla and Raj Mahal restaurents

There is a very good sound system, but we'd plan to get a small band in.

Entry would be £5 and the idea is that we do pre-booked tickets rather than on the door. Cheesy, but the plan would be to have Badges made up for each attendee with your name and forum username, so you can put a face to avatar.

Accomodation, all within 2 to 5 minutes walk from the venue include The Wynnstay Hotel, The Smithfield, Sebastians, The Red Lion and The Griffin. A 5 minute taxi ride away is a Travel Lodge & Premier Inn. These can be googled or you can use Smoothound.co.uk to find lastest prices.

Re: Resurrect the Winter Web Party

Well done to Ruth and Al for trying to get this up and running again....

I always like the date as it's my birthday on 22nd Feb

And to just add to this as some luddites took the piss out of the name [web] it is a indoor rally weekend a bit of comfort and a great get together live music, booze, and good food and a warm bed.

It is a great way for guests or members to meet for the first time after they have been chatting here online. There won't be a laptop, PC or netbook in sight, it is not a geeks convention as some people that pretend they don't look in here have suggested it's party time.

Here are some photos from previous years....

I was a big fan of this (rode up for both the ones I attended) as BaZa says, a great eye opener to the club for those who have joined and spend time on the site.

Yes, I remember these !!!!

When we started off with the idea of doing these, we had no idea they would become as successful as they did !

I think the first year has got to be the best, as many of those attending had not met (only on here!), and it was like seeing long lost friends reunited !

Things change and life goes on, and it will be great so see a new enthusiastic team taking up the reigns again. Good on ya Ruth and Al.

Ah I remember it well, my bedroom door fell off ... then Mike & kim locked themselves in their room - so they rang the bloke with one leg to climb up the stairs to the top of the hotel and let them out

The Guest singers, Fat Liam and Spicey Cash were shite. But the Knuckleheads were good. and the rag tag scrapyard band at the first one was a hoot...

Most of us did anyway plus Helen who does not do rallies enjoyed this event and it was nice for her to meet people that I had spoken about over the years.
