28 years ago i was left for dead by a hit and run driver. Only due to the quickness of a blood transfusion, and all the medical people (many thanx, you know who you are) I survived. They were talking of amputation as leg was so bad, but a brand new process saved my leg thankfully, even though i spent 16 months in hospital and had over 2.5 years off work as had to learn to walk again.He was obviously pissed and reported the accident 48hrs later. Even though i had a handful of witnesses, the police declined to prosecute this scumbag. So i know partly of how you are feeling. I hope they catch the bastard responsible and hang him from the highest yardarm as a deterrent to others. Any person with any human feelings, should at least have the decency to stop and help even if they were at fault, but unfortunately society is changing for the worst, nobody seems to care anymore. Feel very sorry for your loss. Condolences to the family and friends. RIP Dennis.

Hi Lorraine your most welcome to come to any of our rallies etc. Take it one step at a time and with all your friends and family around you it will get better.
I am pleased the poem might of helped a little its always difficult to find the right words when your offering your sympathies it just seemed to say all that was needed.

Well the police did a fantastic job and got him into court (Ian Breacher from Herts serious accident team), but the CPS were pathetic, she sounded like his defence lawyer. I know I am biased but jeez. Eventually he was charged with failing to stop, failing to report and no MOT, death by dangerous driving was dropped because it was his word against ours and the CPS didn't fancy the fight, although we know what happened, no doubt or hesitation. No tax since Feb 2007 is being dealt with by the DVLA.

We hought it was hopeless, until the judges adjorned until January for probation reports, but the strongest recommendation that he serve the maximum 26 weeks in Custody. Not much for a life, won't bring our beloved mate Dennis back, but will screw his life just a little.

Vengeance and hate are unhealthy emotions, but the glimmer of justice feels pretty good.

Thanks to everyone for you support on here, and we'll take you up on the Woolmer Green meet, I am a full member now.

Hi Richard sorry the case against the driver was so weak he should have been locked up now and not be having a Christmas on the outside!

Hi guys, been out of it for a while and just seen this very sad thread, my sincere condolences to all his friends and family.
Yet another bright star in the night sky.

The law is truly an ass, it rarely metes out correct justice, in fact there is none, otherwise the algae that did this would be put away for a very long time.

Lorraine, Richard, take it steady, I lost a very dear friend 4 years ago, still miss him, always will, but they rest in a very special place in your heart.
