Biker killed in hit-and-run crash

A motorcyclist has been killed in a hit-and-run crash.
The 51-year-old man was hit by a car as he rode his Harley Davidson bike on the A10 between Hoddeson and Hertford, at about 1515 BST on Sunday.
He was taken to Harlow's Princess Alexandra hospital where he later died, Hertfordshire Police said.
Police urged anyone who saw the car involved, white and about the size of a Ford Fiesta or Vauxhall Astra, which failed to stop, to contact them.

Motorcyclist dies in A10 hit and run accident

- News for Hertford, Ware and the surrounding area

11:25 - 18 August 2008

A MOTORCYCLIST suffered fatal injuries in a hit and run accident near Hoddesdon on Sunday.

The smash took place at the slip road onto the A10 northbound carriageway between Hoddesdon and Ware at 3.15pm.

The 51-year-old, from Stevenage, was riding a Harley Davidson when he was in collision with a white car which failed to stop.

The motorcyclist was taken to Princess Alexandra Hospital in Harlow where he died.

Jenny Solender, emergency medical technician who attended the incident, said: “A man who came off his bike sustained leg and pelvic injuries. He was treated and stabilised on the roadside before being taken to an awaiting trauma team at the Princess Alexandra Hospital.

“I would like to pass on my sincere thanks to the friends of the motorcyclist and the motorists who stopped and helped out, it was very much appreciated.”

Herts Police are appealing for any witnesses and the driver of the white car, which was the size of a Vauxhall Astra or Ford Escort, to contact them.

Inspector Phil Bloor from the road policing unit said: “The man was badly injured and we're appealing to anyone who saw it take place or saw the car drive off from the scene to get in touch.

“If you were the driver of the car involved I would appeal for you to get in touch with me.”

Anyone with information should call Herts Police on 0845 3300222.

Re: H-D Biker killed in hit-and-run crash in Hertfordshire

RIP Mate and condolences to your family.

I had four near misses on my way back from Suffolk last night in the rain on the A14 and M6. One car came straight off a junction right in front of me (I was in the middle lane trying to keep out of the way of everything and then he slammed on his brakes for nothing Its not like he could not have seen me (with the bloody great bright red waterproofs i had on) or heard me for that matter In fact when you think about it, i am not sure that I ever not get at least one near miss on any bike journey over 5 mile or so. Bloody roundabouts are the worse
