Can it be BIGGER ?

I think i once heard that you can fit a 260 rear tyre to a 2008 V ROD without any modification to the rear, does anyone know if is this true

I've just fitted a 240 tyre into a 2006 model using a later swingarm and it looked like it would take a 260 with out any major surgery.

For the definitive answer look on 1130cc.com: The #1 Harley Davidson V-Rod Forum

Re: Can it be BIGGER ?

there's tons of posts on the 1130cc forum on the subject ?

a 260 Metz will fit without any mods.

but whats of interest is that a forum member member placed a Metz260 and a Avon Cobra 250 side by side and the results are;

Metz 260 measures 258mm wide
Avon Cobra 250 measures 263mm wide even though they class it as a 250 !

so i went a for a set of Cobra's and they are great tyres for the rod ! and many 1130 members rate the Cobra as a much better tyre for its profile and grip another reson why i opted for Cobra's and these guys had ran Metz's

also i have to say i have not noticed any handling difference putting the larger rear on at all, its still scrubbed edge to edge !
