Exclamation Ride For Life News

Hi all,

I've had quite a few PM's and e-mails about this asking various questions, mainly asking about details of the charity, sponsor forms & the pin badges.

I'm intending having a bit of a meeting with Essjay & others at the web party sometime on Saturday when the headaches have cleared.

The charity details were in the old threads on the old site & didn't get transferred over. I'll see if Essjay still has them on his pc to post on here. If you can't wait then here is a link to the website;

http://www.gnhct.org/

I'm hoping he also has the original sponsor forms that just need the route & dates altering & then putting on the site & also in the Quinn.

We've got a few pin badge suppliers to look at then we'll sort that out too.

Other than that we just need to sort out who is doing which leg of the ride itself. This needs sorting because the ride is being run in reverse this year. So, for example, last year our crew went down to Peterborough to pick up the baton to take it up to the Humber Bridge turn off handover point. So, this year, do we get it at the bridge & take it down to Peterborough ( then go look at the BMF ), then those that brought it up from South Mimms to Peterborough, collect it from us at Peterborough & take it back down again. I think that's the way it will work this year, but it's up to everyone which section of the ride they take part in.

If anyone would still like a copy of the dvd that Annette had done let me know & I'll see what I can do. Or, if anyone knows how to put it in one of those putfile thingys perhaps that would be easier then we can add a link on here for all to see Yeah I like that idea. I think BNMike just uploaded one.

Okay, Ill keep you all informed. Not long now, only 13 weeks to go

Any sign of a sponsor sheet or should I circulate last years with appropriate changes?

Re: Ride For Life News

As you can see, Roger has kindly put up the sponsor forms for the ride.

I've just checked the date for getting these in the Quinn & I think I've left it too late Dope But last year everyone either got one from this site or Essjay sent a pile out to the regions reps to hand out at their meetings. So hopefully anyone that wants one can get hold of one.

The cover letter is the old one from last year, but Essjay is trying to get Annette to write a new one. I believe she is away in South Africa at the moment but hopefully we'll have one sorted as soon as she gets back & has time to write one

If anyone wants to get in touch with thier local newspapers to raise the profile of this then that would be great. If you need any info on the charity you can get stuff from their website at;

http://www.gnhct.org/

If anyone wants a copy of the dvd I think we still have some kicking about. I must try get it onto one of those putfiles that Baza has been using. Unless someone can do this for me, which would be good

If anyone has any more ideas for fund raising like Rod Bod & crew at Penrith then please go ahead. It would be great to exceed last years total

That's it for now,

Kendo

Re: Ride For Life News

I know I'm a "newbie" on this forum. May I get some of my friends in some radio stations to chat about your fundraising event? I'd need your permission first before I contact them with all the details though.

I get to go and do radio interviews and have built up some friendships with various radio DJ's and producers. If I ask nicely they can mention it on their shows.

Big Hugs and Blue Skies.

Re: Ride For Life News

I can't see a problem with this Mel

Any publicity can only be good for the ride and the charity. I'll check with Essjay as he is the one in contact with Annette who runs the charity.

Thanks,

Kendo

Re: Ride For Life News

Hi guy's yes I'm alive & well, (took me a while in re-hab after the web party!) things are simmering along quietly behind the scenes, and Kendo, Boogiefool & myself had a very productive meeting in Llangollen ( ) anyway.........Annette is going to send me an up to date newsletter tonight hopefully, so when that arrives we will add it to the downloads.
The route is all worked out (thanks Kendo) and fine weather is assured!
Some of us westcountry boys will be riding both ways just for the hell of it, and at the end there will be a bit of a knees up at the Trevaylor campsite in St Just (4 miles from Lands End) all are welcome
Thanks Mel, all help like you mentioned is gratefully received, the more publicity the better!
I would like to stress that although this is a run organised by the HDRCGB all Harley-Davidson Riders are welcome to take part!
Also if any region would like to put their emblem/design on the bottom of the front page of the sponsor sheets - please do so, you may find that locals are more likely to dip their hands in their pockets if they can identify with the cause!
Also the pin badges are still being dealt with! there are a few difficulties to be ironed out, and the designs have disappeared but I'm sure Boogiefool is on the case! (Heh Heh!) anyone wishing more info or sponsor sheets please feel free to e-mail me - essjay1340@aol.com
Also anyone wishing to help in anyway - badge artwork/organising their region/publicity/ideas - feel free, cause it's not just Kendo & me it's a CLUB THANG! enough of the pep talk, I'm orf to re-hab!
