E-mail from Annette

Here's a copy of an e-mail from Annette I got yesterday.

Hope it helps explain some stuff for you.

If anyone would like to contact her personnaly her details are at the bottom of her letter.

Kendo

Dear Harley Davidson Riders of Great Britain,

As January comes to an end it shows just how quickly the months are going by and your “Ride for Life” is only just around the corner. We are as a small charity very grateful for your continued support, and please understand we are not looking after just 4 or 40 or even 400 orphans, but over 4,000 who daily depend on this charity to keep them alive and to give them hope when there is little else in their young lives. This charity is now 6 years old. And without your support we would have not been able to achieve what we have, in such a short time space.

The Global Natural Healthcare Trust has good news. Virgin as in Mr Richard Branson have agreed to help GNHCT by hosting this years World Aids Week Ball in December and this will be Saturday 1st, and a great event many celebrities will be present, we will want a show of Harleys so perhaps you London boys will help to make that happen. We would love you all to come and don’t worry about dinner suits, your Harley leathers are far more attractive! Wow this will be some party and we need some help to make a new “Ride for Life” DVD for it, many of you had a copy of the first one, but we were not able to put the 2006 one together as the camera went wrong, and although I was very upset there was little I could do about it. Any one else who has film of the 2006 “Ride for Life” and could help me, I would be very grateful. Please that would be wonderful.

I have also learnt that Virgin are going to try and assist in other directions but it has only last week been decided about working with GNHCT and so as the news breaks, we will inform you, I told them at the recent London meeting that “The Ride for Life” had been our main source of income, and they asked me when the 2007 event was, and as of yet I have not been able to tell them, as Kendo in Grimsby is organising it this year, and needs some urgent back up. It has been muted that some of you would like it later in the year and if this is so can you please talk with your individual clubs and then get back to Kendo ASAP. Perhaps Virgin would like to help as well. We do need publicity for this to help you riders get sponsorship. I am aware that there is Donor Fatigue out there!! Kendo is on d.markham@ntworld.com Trevor Moyle (Kernow Riders) is on trevormoyle@tiscali.co.uk

As you have your individual club meetings each month, will you please rally the troops and get them enthusiastic about joining up for “Ride for Life” possibly fundraising locally and approaching their local Lions Clubs and Rotary clubs to help with the event. I have been present at both “Ride for Life” rides and endeavoured to follow and support all the riders as much as possible, also thanking them individually and showing various clubs pictures of the project in South Africa.

Please remember I am out there every month at my own expense, and every penny we raise goes into the project.
WE HAVE NO ADMIN COSTS AS EVERYONE WORKS FOR FREE.
ALL OF OUR TIME AND TREATMENTS ARE GIVEN FOR FREE.
Many of the larger charities have huge admin costs and fancy brochures and we are just not like that, its hand to mouth keeping people alive, and GNHCT with your help has been able to help thousands of people who without our support would have lost their lives.

Please don’t let us down, I am happy to talk to any club or organise a teleconference with a number of clubs we can get 8 telephone lines up and running for around £70 and GNHCT will pay that and then we could all talk about ideas views, and where exactly the route is for 2007.

God Bless you all out there, some of you I have met and others I have still to meet.

I fly back to South Africa next Thursday the 8th for 10 days of serious hard work, I am looking forward to Harley Rider Sylvia Moyle joining me again out in South Africa for another week, later in the year.

We all had fantastic fun at the Kernow Cornwall dinner dance last Saturday and a Harley Wedding took place, that’s two people and not two bikes!! Four GNHCT Trustees attended and all were a little heavy headed the next morning!!

Sincerely

Annette Montague-Thomas

Re: E-mail from Annette

Also, after speaking to Annette she has confirmed that the painted sign which is to go above the clinic is the crossed flags HDRCGB logo and the old one which was originally at the old clinic got nicked! and is probably now being used for someones roof! imagine, a shanty town with one colourfull roof! she also told me to tell you all that anyone wishing to go out to Africa in September will be more than welcome, Sylvia the wife of one of the Kernow members has already been out once and is going again to help out with the kids party in Sept.
I will still be kicking around to do the sponsor sheets etc so if we go ahead the arrangements will pretty much be as last year all we need to do is decide what to do and when like Kendo says it's hard to think about riding yet, but soon
