Basic Lifesavers

If you are serious about your driving/rideing then you could do a lot worse than have a look at a book called ROADCRAFT (spookily enough). Its the Police driving/riding bible. The main thing is that its all simple stuff that works, and a lot of the methods described in the book are used by mature drivers who have survived long enough to gain experience. If you have new drivers in your household they would certainly benifit, and even the experienced would find much to improve their abilities. All advanced Police drivers have to know its contents inside out (there is still a written exam as part of the course), and even the response and non-response drivers have to know its basics to get through their driving courses.

It may not be the most interesting thing you will ever read, but it may help prevent a nasty spill.

Roadcraft ISBN: 0113408587

If you search the web you should be able to get a copy delivered for about £9.50, which considering the money we spend on our rides and kit, is not a big sum.

basic lifesavers

Once you understand the system riding used in the book riding certainly becomes easier. I did a Ride School last year = best thing I ever did.

Re: Basic Lifesavers

I have recently done a first bike on scene course.
The day consisted of
helmet removal
basic CPR and log rolling
scene scenarios where you had to prioritise what you would do if you witnessed bike RTC.

£49 well spent.

I now have to impart the knowledge over to my riding pals, as I am the one that wears the full face lid most of the time and not them so I need to know that someone will look out for me if it happens.
