Thumbs up Re: RIDE IT PROPERLY A HarleyQuin Publication

Thats a very good article, thanks.

I dont have much experience of Harleys, Ive rode 3 in total.
But I cant say Ive noticed they handle bad, having got her beginning Feb, I have yet to drive mine on a dry road, ive been through mud and floods, ect.
Sunday it was peeing down, but she's stable allways.

So maybe if you love em they love you back!

Re: RIDE IT PROPERLY A HarleyQuin Publication

Thanks just read and printed it off. Anyone on the ride out from Oswestry last year will remember how good I am at cornering, and that was AFTER going to a back to biking course at Riders Edge. When I rode in my late teens and early twenties we just went as fast as we could. I was into Chops then, could not afford a Harley, but had bonnevilles and cool 58 Thunderbird Chop which I recked by clipping the kirb on a conner and the extended girder folks just collapsed.

Having only completed 3700 miles on my Street Bob since last May, I am still terrified of corners. Not so much when i am on my own, but on Ride Outs I still feel such a bloody jerk. Have managed to stop the braking on cornering, but I still feel unsteady and hesitent whilst cornering, especially with my good lady on the back. I remember being taught to counter steer at the Edge, but that was round the show ground on a Softail Delux which appeard to ride by itself most of the time (Lovely Bike). But it feels just so wrong somehow. I guess its practice thats required. It has taken me 30 plus years to get my Harley. My Street Bob is a superb machine, I just want to get to the stage where I can ride like some of you guys and gals, gliding around corners like it was the easiest thing on earth. Articles like this one really help. Thanks again
