Re: small/illegal number plates...do u get pulled?

ACPO have now said that if a plate is clearly visable, and readable, it should not be a cause for prosecution, Ive had small plates on my bikes for 20 or so years and never been pulled over for them.
some plates really take the p*ss, and they will remain a target for the cops, sports bikes mainly though.

Got a mate in the New Forest Hogs who got pulled but Dockgate ( who supplied the bike with plate ) paid the fine. Certainly at Shaws you have to sign a disclaimer now - not that Shaws would ever offer to pay your fine anyway!

Keeping the numbers and letters as close to the legal size as you can appears to be the key. As stated above readable is the key to getting away with it and taking the p**s is the way to being pulled. Common sense seems to be prevailing at the moment.

Can't believe you got stopped on the motorway. The only place I used to regularly get stopped was around the Ace cafe on the north circular,- were they sit and just target bikes,- nowhere else have I had problems with my number plate size 61/2" by 41/2" mounted at a ridiculous angle.

Re: small/illegal number plates...do u get pulled?

I know it was bloody dangerous to stop on any hard shoulder of a busy road. I should have complained in hindsight. But I thought I was getting stopped for the previous 15 miles of 40MPH with my plate covered (by mistake)

When he saw me the plate was visible as I had left the Heathrow roadworks this was about about 18months ago...LOL

Re: small/illegal number plates...do u get pulled?

I got a tug leaving Oz last year.

Letters were ok, just slightly the wrong colour

Mind you there were so many coppers hanging around when we left them were bound to pull someone for something.

He did point out that I could leave the plate on if I wanted as it does look better in black
