| The new motorcycle test
Hi, I have been asked to give out a little information on the new 2 part test. To gain a full motorcycle license you Will need to start with a current driving licence with a cat A entitlement. If you are over 21 you can use the direct access route witch culminates in a full licence with no power restrictions. If you are luck enough to be under 21 then you will gain a power restricted licence (33BhP) The process starts with a CBT(Compulsory Basic Training) It does what it says and is where you start learning the art of riding a motorcycle(Valid for 2 years), next i recommend you do the theory test as you will have a greater knowledge of the motorcycle related questions, you can elect to take this test any time after you are 17 and there is plenty of low cost media to help you pass this. The test pass lasts cert lasts for 2 years and is only valid for the category it was taken for. Once the above has been completed we then start the practical training. This now has to include the training for the part one of the 2 part test. this test is conducted at a DSA test centre. Here is a link to the circuit info with measurements for the part 1. http://www.dsa.gov.uk/Documents/MPTC...ing_layout.pdf Those candidates who have demonstrated riding skills of a dangerously incompetent level during Module 1 will not be permitted to take Module 2. Those candidates who have passed Module 1 will receive a Test Pass Certificate which they must bring with them when they take Module 2. This cert also lasts for years Module 2 of the test will be about 57 minutes in length and will consist of the eyesight test, road safety questions and at least 30 minutes of road riding. consisting of a road ride covering a variety of road and traffic conditions and will also include normal stops, hill and angle starts. I hope this helps, it is a brief as i can make it and covers the basics. Regards Mike |
