Re: Approved Insurance Devices

Hi Pete.

I've not seen this weeks MCN (newsagents where I get it from
haven't received so I haven't).

I looked on the MCN website doesn't mention anything, I searched
on Security, and it mentioned Almax for a Feb 2006 report, and a
link to another section says that the Series III is one of the
best.

I'm looking to get either 2 Series III's and a ground anchor or a
III (for when away at Rallies, etc) and a IV (when it get Sold
Secure Gold certificated).

You can never have to much security.

The ultimate would be a SAS squad on 24/7/365 guard of your
house & garage/tent (when at rallies and following you
everywhere in a van, just to be sure !!!!!

Dave

Yes this weeks MCN....test of all the big brand chains. the ONLY one that 'passed' their test was the Almax 19mm link jobbies not the smaller one.

I was a bit miffed I gotta be honest

When filling out on-line forms, they always ask what security devices are fitted to your bike, then, scroll down through a long list of devices to find the relevant one.

No mention of the factory fitted HD alarm/imobliser, so you leaxe the field blank and your quote goes up.

Has anyone any idea of the name of the HD factory fitted device?

I have found that by telephoneing the insurance company and telling them about the factory fitted system they will recognise it. Why they dont have it on the drop down menus on their sites is beyond me.

I wouldnt be surprised if the moco has forbidden it....

I have gone through Bennetts this year as they were the best all round quote, last year Carole Nash won my business, and before that the HD insurance, next year who knows.

I use the big one with the ground anchor at home and the smaller for travel. Great kit.

Re: Approved Insurance Devices

Guys, many thanks,

I have ended up with Smart Water, an Thatcham Disk Lock (which weights about a kg) and a ground anchor.

So far on ebike and bennets its bought my premium down about £100, for a lay out of £100 so....

And as for saving next year, do insurance people remove thatcham devices from the approved list.. if so, have i just been had with another money making scheme from the insurance companies?

Disk Lock Although these are superb locks, there is so little to get the bolt cutters on, you must never forget it is fitted
There are several 'reminders', a curly wire is just one, you can devise your own method. If you do forget you will be picking yourself up before you know your'e down .
