just had a quick look at mine and as a quickie tie the spring's in with cable tie's
other than that you'd have to make up a bracket of some sort

Re: Quick release windshield security?

It's a quick release for YOUR safety. If a rider was to have a crash and get thrown forward the windshield is designed to come off at impact Rather than the rider being squashed up against it. I know what your thinking, same as me they are going to hit something after getting thrown but hopefully it would be onto grass if very lucky.

So the only way I would suggest is leave it as it is when riding and make a device so you can padlock it when you leave your bike unattended.

is it?
I thought it was convienience. I've gone through sheilds a few times and that wasn't the problem, no injuries there, they kind of broke off at their mounting screws, since they are brittle i guess. the actual taxi and pizza delivery cars that left turned me hurt a lot more.

Re: Quick release windshield security?

Baza is right - again!! My recent journey down the road with my Road King Custom ended, with among other things, with the quick detach coming off - damaged the front fender in the process - the stuff it is made of is extremely strong and would certainly do damage if you hit it.

No it's quick release for your convenience, there are other factors designed in to assist in the event of a safety situation such as easy shear fittings etc.
Not all H-D windshields are quick release.

RE: Road Kings, part of the service schedule is to check the screen fittings, tighten, adjust or replace the rubber components to ensure a good secure fit.

I think mine has been over tightened to prevent theft, pulled on the wires, nothing.
Not important, was just going to put in bath to soak bugs off,I'll try again next month.
