| Proximity alarm??
Hi Has anyone upgraded their standard keyfob activated alarm to a proximity alarm like you get on later Harleys? Be interested if there is a kit of list of parts to get. I have a 2006 streetbob with the bog standard, key fob alarm. Please let me know, Roy |

Yeah, it would be cool. PM'd Phil, put this note on here and a similar one on cycle chat and emailed some US HD dealers. Hopefully, someone will know. Sure its doable as I heard that the proximity alarm is offered as an optional extra on the 2007 dynas. |

Have you found anything out yet Roy. I have just mounted a Wideglide / Softail type ignition switch on the centre console of my Street Bob so it would be kind of handy having the proximity alarm. Keys can stay in pocket. My guess is expensive. Replace TSSM? |

| Re: Proximity alarm??
Oh yes. HD do do something called a smart alarm which is the 2008 version, however a bit pricey. Alternately ... Keyless Security for Motorcycles from DigitalGuardDawg (thanks Phil!) do 2 things: 1st the auto immobiliser, so you still have an ignition switch however your bike is immobolised as you walk away. SO no more pesky pressing the key fob and every time your 10ft away from your bike, its armed. This would be good to combine with a keyless ignition switch option - is this what you have oilslick? If so, please PM me details. 2nd option is complete keyless. This kit (the one I am going for if I cannot find a keyless dash mounted ignition key) negates any need for a key. So you press run, hit start and go. It has an optional (and included) accessories button which imitatetes a speedo reset button for putting on parking lights/reseting the alarm system. My ideal is the 1st option, however struggling to find a keyless dash mounted 3 position (off, on, accessories) ignition switch that goes with my 2006 streetbob (in fact, oil slick, please just let me know what you went for in terms of dash mounted option and where you got it from. DO you have pictures?) I am looking into best offers, trading off between the company itself, Sorgys and Robs Cycle Supply at the moment. The 1st option is about $150 and the 2nd about $300, then $20-$30 for postage so about £90 or £160 all in. If your interested in the pricing insanity, please PM me as considering also how these guys 'mark up' the packages ... SOrgys are 'user friendly' from previous experience. I also have the PDF of the keyless option, email me on rsjoslin@hotmail.com if you wanna copy. Reason I'm excited about this option is Arlen Ness is fitting these kits as standard to their bikes and the testimonials are endless. But hey I am taken in by that stuff |

Looks good. It might have to be one for the future though if it's too expensive. I've got 'cash flow' problems as they say but this could change soon. I used one of those rotary swiches similar to the ones on the dash of the Wideglide which can be unlocked and the key taken out. Custom Chrome #17717 or Motorcycle Storehouse #512772. I cut a hole in the console under the warning lights, trimmed up a 50mm grommet and fitted the switch. Bit of a fiddle this but take off the plastic cover from under the top tube and pull all the loose harness wires out to give more room. Unclip the plug from the neck mounted ignition switch and fish this cable out and poke through the left hand frame grommet and lead into the console with the rest of the wiring. I also rerouted the left hand handlebar wiring out through the right hand side to free room on the left. The ignition switch plug only reached part way to the new ign switch so it was zip tied to the console support post and an extension harness made to reach. Connections are just normal spades. It's easier than it sounds. I'll get some pictures and e mail them. I havn't worked out this Photobucket stuff yet. |

Man, its that time of the year. Looking forward to better times. Will let you know how I get on with the keyless solution for your future plans. Arlen Ness has just partnered with the company so it must be good (not fired up about his bikes, however know he appreciates/demands quality). Pictures are always good (rsjoslin@hotmail.com) . I too have not sorted out the loading pictures on the website thing, sure its simple once you know 'ow. Keep it real and remember the night rider |

Well, fitted my digital dawg keyless ignition system today and it works great. Bit dull now, its one of these things you stick on your bike and it does what it says on the tin. Great service from the co. What can I say, just need to find a way now to get the alarm to come on automatically and I need never use my hands again ... |

| Re: Proximity alarm??
Update time. I asked HD if the 2007 smart alarm would fit my 2006 dyna - they said no, however on questioning could not justify why some lame excuse about the 2007 being a completely different bike (wiring etc). Knew that was tosh as other extras I fitted like my PCIII, rear LED light conversion were all same part numbers for the 2006 or 2007. So, thought I'd ask someone who knew A fellow HDRC member kindly furnished me with the wiring diagrams for both the 2006 and 2007 dynas and these went to Phil and also AFB (Andy) motorcycles. Andy having printed them off onto 42 pages (!), deduced that the main differences are: 1) The attena unit for the smart alarm - so the thing here is does the smart alarm unit physically 'clip' into place on my 2006 electrics panel. If not, will just upgrade it to a 2007 panel. 2) The 2007 introduced a safety mechanism so you can't start your bike in gear unless the clutch is pulled in. All this means, is I'll have to wire my neutral switch into the TSSM (Turn Signal and Security Module) as is wired straight to the dash on the 2006 and routes also to the TSSM on the 2007. This doesn't sound like a major problem, I have a soldering iron ![]() So, the smart alarm is now on its way. WIll update this topic with my progress. Really into the digital dawg keyless ignition - it takes a bit of getting used to,hitting stop and just getting off your bike and walking away without fiddling with keys - however its great being keyless. The standard button alarm does still work as the digital dawg unit simply replaces the need for keys and does not interfere with the alarm system. Anyway, more news to come when the alarm lands. Looking forward to having a keyless auto alarming machine ![]() Cheers, Roy |

| Re: Proximity alarm??
Okay, smart alarm has arrived. It physically fits once a small plastic 'bar' is sawn out of the electrics box. Wiring mods so far are neutral switch wired to pin 4 (goes to sec light on dash for standard 06) and sec light wire plugged into pin 3. The engine cranks but does not start . So, refitted standard 06 alarm and have put results to the experts.Club members are really helping with supplying information which is much appreciated. Will post any progress .. or degres |
