Re: Immobilised in France

had to send 2 back to 2 of the big name manufactures with bikes cutting out, turned out to be a PCB fault.

Should be detailed as a step-by-step proceedure in your owners manual.

You'll need to set your top-secret PIN first.

It's all on the owners manual even how to find the code if someone else has set it or you have forgotten it so long as you have the key and a working fob.

Set it to a 5 digit memorable number and then it's really easy to disable the immobiliser. Unset it like this every couple of weeks and you'll remember with no problem.

There are 2 tear out cards with instructions in the owners manual for entering the code and can be carried in your wallet.

Re: Immobilised in France

As an aside, it affects Volvos too....
After walking all the way home to collect my spare key, walking all the way back, and finding the spare key didn't work either, I could only get it going by opening the doors manually, and sticking the key in the ignition. I'd parked next to an ambulance station, so assume it was that.
I too will make a point of learning how to do the disable stuff, having been scared off it the first time I read it. Far too many buttons to press, and far too many sequences to remember. Probably easier if I get someone else to read it out whilst I press the buttons..

My Mum and Dad live in Normandy and they have...a Volvo. Never experienced a problem in the seventeen years they've been there.

I had a Volvo for a couple of years and we never had a problem when visiting them three times a year.

I remain convinced it is a leccy fault with the alarms and not a France/Pylon induced problem.

Re: Immobilised in France

The problem is not pylons, but Radio Transmissions from Repeater stations using a similar frequency to the one used by the alarm systems, but they are far more powerful and over ride the Fob. Different countries use different frequencies, which is why US systems are not necessarily compatible with EU frequencies.

PS: If you lose the fobs or they will not work you will have to have the TSSM (turn signal security module) replaced if you don't know the code!! And that's not going to be cheap.
I guess yer right maybe I should hve another go at it

Re: Immobilised in France

For obvious reasons, I don't think anyone's going to answer that on here....
