Friends of mine went to Silverstone and chained their three bikes together (a few years ago admittedly). When the racing was finished they returned to find they had all gone. Police told them they were probably lifted into a van together.

I suppose four bikes may give them problems, so would five bikes chained together be safe?!

Re: chain ideas

If you declare that you use a security chain to your insurance company to get a discount of about 5 quid....then you forget to put it on and the bike gets nicked.....you aint covered.

I do use a chain, but I didn't declare it just incase I forget to use it and the worst happens.

Don't tell them about it...just use it.

Brian.

good call, was thinking of getting an almax iv 1.5 with padlock, and was gana get a disk lock.

i have an immobilizer fitted (not that that would stop anyone lifting it) and an alarm which i cant seam to get working, the buttons make the red light work and the light flashes on the bike but when i move it, or bang it it dont go off, so might get a new alarm to boot.

Re: chain ideas

Hi.

What you need are the Almax Immobiliser Series III and IV chains and Squire padlocks.

A Series III and Squire padlock can go with you when you go to a rally.
Plus it and the Series IV can help lock your bike to whatever is in your garage.
You could also get a couple of ground anchors to help with this.

Here's a link to their website.

Re: chain ideas

What Brian said ^^^ about not telling your insurance
im a beliver tho in if you leave it then lock it to something that aint gonna move, and use an abus city chain which i have from my sportsbike days. Its compact but good quality - i dont expect it to stop the pro theif but should cause a slight delay and will put off the oppotunist thief hopefully!
Also comes in handy at shows etc to lock our lids to the front wheel

Re: chain ideas

+1 on Almax.
Have a look at Y-anchor ground anchors too.

Re: chain ideas

I have an Almax III, it's very heavy (the IVs even heavier) but it seems to be good quality and comes highly rated.

If you do phone Almax up get yourself nice and comfy with a pot of tea cos the bloke can't half rabbit on when he's talking about bike security
