I was at a rally again

Ok went to the bum in the mud in Essex and had a bloody good time even the sun shone. I saw the crowd from Essex HDRC and went to say hello but got the impression they didn't want to talk so I suppose HDRCGB lives up to its name again as being the secret society, each to their own Any way I was with another club that had chance to talk to lots of others including MC Clubs. So just to round it up good beer, good food, good facilities, really good bands and sunshine and life doesn't revolve around the Harley Davidson Club of Great Britain!

Good advert for the club there Brian!....................Not

I don't know if we have ever met over the years if we have I apologise for not remembering.

The Essex bunch I have always found to be friendly and welcoming and have shared many a beer and talked bollox well into the night with them.

What HDRCGB rallies do you normally go to out of interest?

Re: I was at a rally again

Hi Baza,

I'm sure they are very welcoming and friendly group if and when you get to know them. And out of interest I've only been to one Harley Davidson Riders Club of Great Britain Rally and that was Hungerford, and I only lasted a day, it wasn't a rally for me. I have been a member for a few years and it is only in the last 8 or so months I have tried to become more active within the club, but I feel it's still not what I'm looking for. I ride a Harley Davidson as every day transport in all weather, so I think I'll just have to go back to as I was, riding independently but then again I do that now anyway as nobody wants to ride out of Kent or to any rallies other than the good old Harley Davidson where everybody can talk about Harley Davidsons.

Brian you have lost me a bit there, are you saying that the only rallies that HDRCGB members from Kent ride to are our own club ones?

If that is the case what is wrong with that?

Do you go to any meets in your area, are you the social type or are you a quiet wall flower unassuming shy person like me?

You could have always gone to BadnameMikes and Kims farm party each year in East Sussex. How about you try it this August see HERE

Surely you have read here and in the quin about the craics to be had at OUR club regional rallies not forgetting our international.

And you think we only talk about H-D's?

I get a lot out of the club and as they (whoever the feck they are) you only get back what you put in.

Looks like I need to get down to Kent and take you out for a beer and slip you a chillout pill when your not looking.

BTW hows your back?

Re: I was at a rally again

It depends on the people involved not the club. The club is just a group of people and stereotypes are bad.

I spoke to a few HOG members at the foundry on Sataurday and they seemed ok to me. In the past I spoke to a different bunch and they were rude and arrogant.

Don't judge a club by one group of members.

We all have the common interests of Bikes.

I never for one moment thought I wouldn't, and I was just trying to establish why the Essex boys came over as being cliquey.

I am also trying to get Brian to meet the club locally at it's best like the Triple, New Forest, Essex Poker run and your own Pitch and Party rallies.

I am sure he would enjoy them and as said when meeting these people again it's like meeting old friends.

Brian I mean this in a very tongue in cheek way but you have had the hump lately......What with H-D Dealers and your bike must have a belt ,cause it's a Harley.

Re: selling my bike

Yes I must change my attitude, it is a great bike but it just gets me going when a main dealer tells me my bike has a belt because all Harley's have belt drive. I'll just have to enjoy the bike when...

Brian I'll see you in a couple of weeks at The Super Rally we are getting into Holland Hoek on Wednesday 8th and meeting up with Harry in Gouda and riding from there stopping near Hamburg for the night.

A proper ride not as quite as long as yours but getting to Harwich from Watford is bit further then you to Dover, but better than the 80K hop from Esbjerg.

We'll have a beer eh?

Did you ever bring a bike back from the USA after your long trip there a couple of years ago?

Re: I was at a rally again

I didn't mean to cause offence to anyone especially the Essex, they were all together having a good time and I'm sure they didn't mean anything, just one of them things that happen at parties.

The comment of the secret society comes from when I first joined as trying to find details of the club was almost impossible and when I went to local club meetings in Kent there would be no one there!

Last year started going down the Pied Bull to try and acquaint myself with the club again wearing HDRCGB sweatshirts, baseball cap and being totally ignore and once you caught someones eye they would turn there back on me. It is only when I met Al and Tony and the guys from Thanet that I really became active. They will be doing things this year and I will be going to club rallies with them but their rally season hasn't started yet as I regard them as my friends, ooops there I go again possibly upsetting someone but it is not intentional, just telling you as it was.

And Baza I will buy you a drink at the SR.

I won't be commenting on this subject any more as I might put my foot in it again.

Bill thanks for the character reference or was it a condemnation and see you Thursday

Just as a closing note heard that there was a fatal accident at the rally when an Ambulance rode a trike off the road into a ditch, very sad.

Re: I was at a rally again

didn't make the bum in the mud this year unfortunately but i know that a few of us made it over there...and said they had a great time.

i think generally the essex region is a friendly bunch that love a laugh (a bit biased i know) and certainly wouldn't want to offend anyone (well not until you get to know us anyway )...sorry to hear you didn't feel the same way..

all i can say is give us another try...our rally is held at mersea island in september (check out our region thread for more details)....i'm sure you'll have a cracking time brian....and i'll buy you your first pint when you get there....

stg.
