Electra Glide Classic...

Got home from GEMS on Saturday to take the taliban out for meal only to be told she wanted to watch the Neil Diamond concert!!!

Who..? I thought he was dead...!

Well p-ssed off.

I had been at GEMS on the Friday and Saturday, with lads from Region 17, it was my first contact with them other than via the forums. And now I could had stayed the Saturday night and Sunday.

Thanks lads for pushing my Sporty from the camp site to the stand, my imobiliser was activated by the aircraft beacons on Detling Hill. How embarassing was that.... Had to get the other half to get my other key... Thanks to Kryk..??? form the use of his mobile..

Luckily that worked and the key...

Which brings me to the the Electra Glide Classic, I had a right monk-on, on Saturday, stuck indoors, even a few beers the partner is preferable than being stuck in on Saturday, even worse was the fact that I could had done an awfull lot more beer with my new mates from the club.

So, began trawling the internet, pissed off with my sportster; it had to go...

All that techno crap... I just want a bike to run and ride...

I looked at well known South East HD dealer (sorry Stealer) and found the 1996 Electra Glide Classic, well sorted with shiny bit, Silver and Blue and looking immaculate, with 22500 miles and a mere £7500.00 of our English pounds.

So today, straight down to the said SE Stealer, under the pretence of getting my keys recoded (break the fob open take the battery and then replace, if only I had known that on Saturday) I had my camera with me intent on taking photos of the bike, my debit card was burning a hole in my pocket straining to pay the deposit....!!! I was ready to go.

Some of you may have seen my Sportster at Talgarth and of course at GEMS,
its not bad and it has been used.

In my estimation it has about £3,500.00 bits and pieces added,

Majority from the states
Slightly less from well known SE Stealer
Little less from Black Bear Newmarket
A little less form Grizzlys
and even less than that from V-Twin in Edinburgh.

Now I use my bike, 10,000 since last August.. Isnt that's what it's for... to ride...?

Now my bike has a few shiny bits and go faster bits and is not what you call a dog.

Now certain director of this SE Stealer in his wisdom offer me £3500.00 quid in px for the glide, the reason...! 10 months and 10,000 miles, evidently you are only supposed to do 3000 miles a year on your HD whatever.. how does that work if you go to Scotland for a touring holiday and then say the Super Rally you have used up your Harley miles do you put the f-cking thing to bed for the rest of the year or do you only use it to go to the corner shop ....!!

What really killed it for me was the twat in the stealer openly said to me: that I purchased a my HD bit from the States....!!!! how the f-ck does that devalue my machine by 50% in 10 months...??

How can some thing depreciated 50% in such a short time I understand that the shiny and preformance bits do not increase the value... but... i bet if I went ahead with the deal the Stealer would be selling the bike at close on £6000.00 (I saw a similar spec 1200c at the stealers in June last year).

Now I may be being sensitive, but I believe the real reason for this is purely that the sales director has got assy because I choose to spend my hard earned liesure squids in the state sand not be blackmailed by the stealer into buying over inflated HD stuff from and operation that stocks the absolute the minimum of stock...

Needless to say, these people can go stuff theselves with the rough end of whatever fits...

And do you know the irony of all this, I took my old 2002 XL883 to put against my new sportster, with 32,000 miles on the clock stuffed to gunnels with American imported bits and they offered me £2500.00....

What a joke... I will never put a foot in that Stealership again...

Which is a shame because the workshop guys are great....

Yours with a now vented spleen...

REMEBER THIS MATES: CAVEAT EMPORATA (BUYER BEWARE)

Re: Electra Glide Classic...

What do you expect form a dealer. I assume its the foundry. Sell it privately and get loads more. Its those crappy stainless bits that devalued your bike.

You should get at least 4.5K if not more for your bike if the buyer likes your taste in mods.

My bleeper plays about around my mums for some reason. Have to push the bike around the corner to get it to work.

Oh and get a road king custom. I love them and want one.

Re: Electra Glide Classic...

Rod,

I won't mention any names but the guy could even be bothered to get out of his office. He already slagged me off at the open day to one of his cronies, if they held the stock at the right price, then no probs, but I have spend about £1k with these earps in just 9 months.

I wanted the Ultra because I want get Sue involved, and she needs to feel comfortable and secure.

My dual sporters seat is the pits, I bought a pillion pad she sat on it without the being fitted to the bike, but still not too sure, and now I have lost the bloody bracket to locate seat to rear fender (something for you M8)..

And I did forget to metion those exceptionally well crafted stainless steel front and rear fender extenders, from a well know local (in some circles) Fabricator (of) Undeniably Cracking Kit.... (lol)

Beaten today-stronger tomorrow.... brigger

Re: Electra Glide Classic...

All part of life's rich tapestry... Funnily enough I checked the Stealers website and the Ultra's been sold.... I feel they may have had someone lined up for this bike already(it only came in on Saturday)...

Makes you wonder....!!

Fabricator (of) Undeniably Cracking Kit

The sporty is a squeeze 2 up but can be done. I used to take the wife out all the time.

I am unsure what you have done to upset them. You have been a cracking customer of mine. Their loss.

Sell the sporty privately and again buy a private bargain. You may even find someone after a swap. If the glide is a bit tatty I am sure we can bring it up to scratch with a bit of spit and polish.
