Re: Sunday 31st Rideout - VMCC Racing Lydden

Yes Chris.Whilst I'm not up for riding out to McDonalds(wherever that is) every weekend (it's an hour plus of lone riding for me),I'm quite up for escaping from the screaming monster's and my beautiful wife (just in case she looks) for a bit of a chat at the gliding club.
I think that there needs to be various meeting points perhaps for these weekend outings.

Re: Sunday 31st Rideout - VMCC Racing Lydden

Yes Troy you'r correct, problem is, as quite a large region, 17 has its 3 parts, unfortunatly (from your point of view) as I think your more in mid Kent, I dont think the members from that neck of the woods (the Sun meet, or the north Kent meet, the Pied Bull) tend to organise or have Sunday rides as much as we do here in the East of the county.(In reading what Ive just put, please dont think Im saying we have a 'them and us policy, coz we certainly dont) But as was quoted by Ian,we have a diary of rideouts, (tho no one is obliged to adhere to this,if they so wish to opt out).
We welcome everyone to the McDs meets, and I know its a haul for you guys from 'up the line'..Ive always thought it has been a shame the other 2 parts of our region dont do as we do,ie meet for Sunday rides,I also know the Sun meet isnt well attended, which is a shame, and I know a new mid Kent venue is being looked for.Its also nice to 'all' get together from time to time as well, as we do at the Dawg.
I hope this makes sense to you, as for sure I certainly dont want any 17ers to feel left out of whatever we have planned.

Re: Sunday 31st Rideout - VMCC Racing Lydden

My point was, why not have brekkie together and then go separate ways if nothing else has been planned?

Nobody was obliged to go in to see the racing, indeed two who had breakfast with us didn't.

No problem getting served. We all ate together and would have preferred to have had you guys with us.
I simply can't understand why the rep's decision was to brekkie elsewhere...

Surely we can go to the gliding club any time.

Indeed, had this been arranged, Troy and Big Dave would have joined us.

Or am I getting beyond my station?

Since I've invested a fair bit of my time (and body) in my diet,I'm going to give my time to the people that provide the biggest breakfast when my scales say so

Re: Sunday 31st Rideout - VMCC Racing Lydden

Well I'm with you Troy.
Enjoy your company and when planning the rideouts for next year we east kent types will venture more into your neighbourhood if you don't hav your own Sunday diary.
I'm just p***ed off that having gone to the trouble to organise, some decide that breakfast elsewhere is preferable and therefore 16+ becomes two groups of eight with confusion amongst new attenders.

Leadership please!!

Regarding split groups, again I totally agree, but 9 times out of 10 we always have a long ride group and another that wants a closer ride, always gonna happen, espec when a good number of bikes turn up.
There were Harleys there too but there could have been twice as many. How ever the beauty of this club no one is committed to any plan or routine(?) I just know I had a bl**dy good day with good people, in good weather, so thats me happy

Re: Sunday 31st Rideout - VMCC Racing Lydden

It's a bit tricky sometimes when everyone wants to do there own thing.
I still had a nice day.The children had to polish bits of the bike to earn their tme on the net.
They went out on their bikes with their friends
No internet
healthy kids
dirty bike
..now where's that beer

Re: Sunday 31st Rideout - VMCC Racing Lydden

Not all of us like to be led and like two do our own thing. I hated being told what to do at school by my headmaster and hate being told what two do at work.

Being on a bike is my escape to freedom even if it is only riding to work and up the foundry.

I am glad I stayed at home and painted my wheels.

There are a lot more members in R17 that I will ever get to meet due two my travel restrictions and I used to enjoy meeting up for a very local ride.

Relax John as a lot of the Thanet Wild hogs look to you for leadership and a very good job you do.

Some though may just want to do there own thing.
