Re: Very quiet in 17

Hal I reckon this is a job for the region 17 mechanics, we got engineers (Kev) welders (Darren) and delegators (me) I reckon we could have you up and running in no time.

Re: Very quiet in 17

[quote=Hal;715910]Well I'm at home with a long face .. work is crap at the moment and my bike is broke.

Returned from Belgium last Friday and noticed the rear cylinder exhaust had broke just where it splits into two. I had it booked into the Foundary for 11.00 am this coming Monday, rung them today to check everything ok as I was booking a days holiday and was told oh parts not due in until December.

How can that be, this is a common failure on the TC88 models. You could build a complete new bike in 3 months. What if I had just turned up in Canterbury on Monday ... totally unacceptable.

Bloody hell Hal thats a bummer ,thought that would have been a stock item ,maybe you should check out what Chris offered ,good luck anyway ,catch you around ,,,,think i would ring again in case there is a mix up

Re: Very quiet in 17

Thanks Guys for your replies. I need to look at the bike again.

Last year whilst in Scotland the actual weld where the pipe splits actually broke and I found a guy who fixed it perfectly for £90.00 and said it was better then when it left the factory.

But know I think it has gone closer to the cylinder head and just snapped through the actual pipe. The weld join looks perfect.

I am going to see if I can find one in the States and Fed Ex it over.

Chris I really appreciate your kind offer, let me see what I can locate and go from there. I was thinking about a GP type of operation where we actually pay for people's time and skills and the money could go onto a food and drink pot for our rallies together. Would make people like me feel better about asking for help - if that makes sense

Out of interest the part number required is a 65626-98C and is the rear cylinder header pipe on a 2002 Road King Classic.

Right off to post in another section to find some USA dealers who ship to the UK. Have a great weekend everyone.

Re: Very quiet in 17

Well Id like to think none of our members wouldnt hesitate to ask if they needed help, thats what this clubs about I reckon, I know Im gonna be asking for some over this winter. Hal I dont know if Gypsy or Baza contacted you but I got a garbled message (I was at a mates and having a double conversation..sorry) saying Baza may have found you what you need. I was going to pass your number on,but I dont have it (nor did any of the Foundry regulars. So maybe a PM might be in order.
Good luck with what ever you decide.

Re: Very quiet in 17

Morning All

Sorry for the delay in reply - busy work schedule this week. Thank you all for the nice replies about garage space !! I really appreciate that and I know that I just need to ask.

I have had the replacement pipe fitted that Baza has lent me - but now need to fit a front engine rubber mount. This was underway until I found one of the mounting bolts was snapped. Perhaps this was a possible cause of all my problems.

So note to self, when cleaning your bike look at all the bolts and check not just the ones that are most obvious.

Anyway the bolt is on route from Chester HD and should arrive this week and then hopefully back on the road this weekend.

Us 1/2 spanner mechanics really make life difficult. So I am going to clean out the garage, organise what tools I have so I can find them, install more lights in the garage so I can see what I am doing and adopt that old saying "Don't panic Mr Mannering".
