not a moment to soon either, hate coming hame fae pub smelling like an ashtray. just a shame the pubs don't have the choice to be smokin or non-smoking. then people could pick. even when I did smoke, I still hated the smell.

feel sorry for the old blokes who fought for there country, who now can't sit and chat about the "good old days" wi a pint and a fag in there own club. its all some of them have left. so what did they fight for ?. freedom? from who!!

Unhappy Re: Smokin ban starts Sunday....

It will be good to see all these self-righteous arseholes when they see their taxes going up when that tight Fifer disnae have all the tobacco revenue to play with. And that's before they start on the drink, the fatties, and anything else that disnae fit in with their idea of personal freedom.
Funny thing is, both my parents smoked, and I've hated the whole concept of smoking since before I started, which was about 40 years ago now. But if this is supposed to be a free country (why isn't there a smiley for a hollow laugh) then people should have the right to choose.
Fact is, before they started the taxpayer-funded campaign of misinformation, most people were pretty tolerant. Now they've got everyone convinced that they'll drop dead at the first whiff of smoke, while they're breathing in their diesel carcinogenic soot particles, exhaust fumes, chemical sprays, pesticides, etc. every damn day of the week.
I remember reading some time ago, that you would have to stand in a phone box with 20 smokers for about a day, to inhale the same amount of smke as one cigarette.
Passive smoking? Government funded bollox, out of jealousy that the tobacco industry always funded the cigar smoking Tories....
This Hip Noo Labour government has perpetuated the Market Forces policy of Thatcher, and if market forces really worked, there would have been thousands of no smoking pubs and restaurants long before they started talking about a ban, because the non-smokers would have been voting with their feet. Thin end of the wedge this.
Watch this space for:
A ban on motorcycles over 25cc.
A ban on drinking in public places.
A ban on farting.
A ban on scratching your erse after a good fart.
A ban on cows (all that greenhouse gas they emit).
A consequent ban on burgers, steak n chips, leather jackets and boots.
A ban on bicycles (a cycling man emits CO2, the greenhouse gas).
A ban on burgers, coffee, tea, cream cakes (for the women's votes).

Enough o' that!
I'm awa' ferra ferkin' smoke....................

Possibly. but by nae means a certainty.

Think aboot it, how much taxes are raised by smokers? How much of those taxes are spent on medical care fer the smokers? Furthermore, therz also the reasonable assumption that, releasing resources from helping smoking related illnesses, passive or otherwise, will benefit the NHS.

Simple;)
