My bike broke....

Apparently it was dirt in the carb and dirty air filter.. Me finks that if they had serviced the bike before I rode it off it would NOT have happened.. Half a tank of fuel in the bike, so running out of fuel was not the prob.. Think I need to take a mechanics course.. Have not ridden it since, confidence super dented,, Hoping to ride morro night.. We'll seee. hows the weather looking for Friday Michael Fish..

What type of air filter have you got OEM or other?

I am a girlie with no mechanical knowledge, so i have absolutely no idea what carb I have.. Dont even know where it is on the bike.. Should I own up to that!!!

Here you go!

Your air cleaner cover is probably oval , mine is this chrome 'tear drop' style of one with S&S writen on it, the carb is behind that in between the two cylinders

If carb is original it will be a kline.. If the sportster is new as in 2008/2009 it might even be fuel injected? with no carb at all....

you could always join DD's school of mechanics to learn more...

Thanks for that.. Feeling educated now.. Mine has got screamin eagle on it.. Its a 2006 1200 sportster c, no fuel injection.. Got a choke!! Everyday is a school day...
