South Devon Christmas Party 19th Dec

Hi Everyone

The Christmas Party for the South Devon area will be at The Parkers Arms in Paignton again. Saturday 19th December at 7.30pm

I've still got to sort out with the Pub and Paul if we can arrange a disco like last year, but I'm not intending on doing a raffle.

They're keeping the cost the same as last year . . it's £15.00 per adult and £10.95 per child.

I've listed the menu choices . . please decide what you want and let me know as soon as you can . . they also require a deposit of £10 each at the beginning of December . . so I need your money in during November.

Aperitif: Mulled Wine

Starters: Homemade soup & crusty bread, Prawn cocktail & brown bread, Creamy garlic mushrooms (with brandy sauce and crusty bread), Smoked salmon & prawn terrine with Melba toast.

Main Course: Roast Turkey, Roast Pork, Quorn fillets in a shallot & red wine sauce, Nut Roast.

Desserts: Christmas pudding with either brandy sauce OR clotted cream, Sticky toffee pudding with brandy & caramel sauce, Lemon Cheesecake.

Coffee and Mince Pies.

Unfortunately I'm not in a position to offer any spare bedrooms for overnight guests this year . . sorry about that. If you need accommodation, I do know a very good guesthouse by the seafront which will probably arrange a small discount . . let me know.

For those that didn't come to last year's do . . . we had a fabulous time and the food was excellent. So let me know asap if you fancy sharing the festivities and a few beers !

Thats a 30% increase from last year. Are they bringing out the best silver and china this year? Seems a lot when compared to the North Devon party price and they have a live band.

Part of the cost thing may be because of the date. The 19th is the saturday for Christmas meals - everyone wants the last Saturday. We have booked a meal for our fundraising group for that day and ended up paying £22.00 per head. If the venue and food is any good, they know they will be booked up so can push the prices up

This is not a criticism of the Parkers (never been there), just an observation generally.

It doesn't include a disco either which would be extra money . . last year we split the cost of the disco three ways, between the pub and the two sets of parties. I can only presume that they didn't make enough money.

It does still seem to be good value though. I believe we're going to get a free bottle of wine for every 6 people who book up.

Re: South Devon Christmas Party 19th Dec

I've just been in to the pub and had a "word" about the cost of the food. They said that they're prepared to offer us the meal at the same price as last year because they also had such a good night too . . and they obviously enjoy our custom and company. We do, however, need to have about 30 people intending to go to make the discount viable.

So . . the price of the full party meal (as above) will now be £15.00 each for adults (depending on numbers going) . . .

Can you now start letting me know if you want to come along on the 19th Dec, and let me know your food choices . . thanks

That sounds more like it.... Does it still include the wine? Lynne and I will be going.
