Re: Unity Ride - Sunday 17 Aug -Chichester to London

Hello Pete, another Newbie here.

Just got myself an XR1200, great bike, just gotta sort that exhaust out - apart from being pug-ugly, it's restraining the bike's potential, and it's far too quiet!!!

Hoping to make the Unity run, it's for a darned good cause.
Funnily enough, I was going to wimp out of this run, but I've just been reading some stuff about the first two runs, and it seems that Greenwich council, were determined to prevent the Unity Ride from happening!!!
That sort of stuff makes my blood boil!!!!
As a result, I'll be there.

I found this link that you had posted up on BHB.....
http://londonbikers.com/articles/9208/t
It explains the reasoning and ideals behind The Unity Ride.

Re: Unity Ride - Sunday 17 Aug -Chichester to London

Hi Garry, see you at Washington, Destination Triumph, at 8:30 Sunday. Thanks for your positive words and for posting the link about the whys and wherefores of the Unity Ride. It makes me feel so angry when some pretentious council worker decides on his own to try to stop what is in fact a very worthy cause. (The blood Riders and the Children in Need charities) May it not rain on the parade, because if it does it wont make a blind bit of difference to me or you or to our Harleys. We will both be there, we might be a bit slower, but we will both be there.
Take care buddy.

Re: Unity Ride - Sunday 17 Aug -Chichester to London

Wow, what an utterly fantastic day
Riding through London, through all traffic lights, whatever colour they were showing.
All 4 wheel traffic being stopped at roundabouts and junctions, until the thousand plus bikes had roared past.
Riding past Big Ben, Tower of London, London Eye, etc etc.
Sun shining.
Pedestraians waving and calling their appreciation as we passed by.
The good natured banter and camaraderie between everyone on the ride, whether strangers or friends.

I can't wait for the next one
