Re: New Guildford Stealership Soon

How many times have we heard this. I have also heard that when it opens there are so many planning constraints that you will not be able to ride your bike to and from the shop for most of the week. No ride outs or gatherings are allowed either.

And heres the plans.
Strange that there is only 5 parking slots designated on the plans for Motorcycles ?????? and 18 bays for cars and two bays for disabled vehicles.
Also note that at he rear ofthe building the "staff parking" is shown as cars not as bikes. I wonder who the owners of this new store are trying to attract in through their doors?

Baza, please don't come on here trying to stir things up - I haven't had to moderate any Coaster postings before

Guildford Harley Open for Business...

I stopped in today and had a look around. It's early days as they just opened up this week and they're still building up their stock of all kinds of stuff. But there was a small range of bikes (no baggers that I remember), including a couple of XR1200s and the staff were all friendly and enthusiastic. True, the car park is small, but given the planning regulations in this part of the world, that's not too surprising.

I think they deserve a fair shot and a bit of support. They've got a challenge ahead of them, though, as I'm sure most longer-term customers are probably fairly loyal to one of the existing dealerships. But they're only 20 minutes away for me, as opposed to an hour to Dockgate 20, and, if they get the service and stocking right, that could convert me. One thing they have over Dockgate is that they don't leave the alarms active on the bikes in the showroom, meaning you can sit on them without the damn things screeching at you (small, but embarassing point). And I no sooner was sitting on the XR1200 when Steve, the salesman, was offering to let me take out the demo. Attentive and chatty without being pushy. Nicely done.

Looks like a coffee bar will be going in upstairs where the clothing shop is, though it's not up and running yet (and I forgot to ask about it).

Overall, a good first impression and I'll definitely go back and see how they evolve and mature. Official grand opening is in January, apparently. Oh, yeah, their website seems to have gone live today, too.

It's a long way to go just to look at bling, I shall give it a big miss unless I happen to be passing by en-route to somewhere else.

We have our own bling shop right here in Sussex - however I don't even 'visit' that unless I need something
