Shoreham can be quiet and is not the main Coasters meet so more central would be good.

I don't know if you have missed a word out Wormy or if you mean 'quiet' ---- but the meetings in the West have always been less well attended than those in the East part of the Region. We don't know why, there must be a lot of members of the HDRCGB in the area but they don't seem to be interested in attending. The status of the meeting in Shoreham is exactly the same as the one at the Woolpack, we don't have a main or preferred meeting. The local members just seem to turn up more often in the East.
It has always been an anomaly, which is exacerbated by the Rep not knowing where the members live - or even who the members are, so he can't contact them. It's one of the quirks of the Riders Club.
We assume that most members have access to this Forum so that they can find out what is going on, if they don't then they have to check out the Quin to find out where we meet (but it can't provide week to week plans for local events, such as rides to a brekkie emporium) There are quite a few who don't have access to the Forum and Phil will contact them via his text broadcast, but again he can only send texts to those members who have given him their mobile phone number.

Maybe we should also be looking for another venue for the West as well, a change might bring more members out, who knows.

Tubby ole bean, I think that it is correct to look for a new venue in the East of the area and I am sure that the pub chosen won't be too far for an evening visit. Remember we have members from as far East as Rye and it wouldn't be right to make the venue further for them, (it's already 28 miles for them and if the meeting was moved to the Crown it would be 29 miles, if it were moved to the Berwick it would be 37). The Crown would be something like 11 miles closer for you and the Berwick would be about 3 miles further. I can walk to the Crown but the Berwick would be about 8 miles further than the Woolpack. And both the Crown and the Berwick would save about 1 mile for the 'Westerners'.
The idea of the meeting at Shoreham was to give us here in the East a bit further venue to ride to (as we are a 'Riders' club) as well as for those who live even further West ( Arundel, even Chichester) to meet up with us.

So let's see what happens, the 'looking for' a new venue has it's perks, it's better than looking at the Telly all night

Re: New Pub

I think Shoreham will always be quiet mainly due to the number of HOG members that attend the same pub on a Monday,Shoreham beach HOG and 1066 are both large clubs also Surrey chapter has many members in our area,Gregs cafe this time of year is full of Hog members with me and P often being the only riders club.
Shorehams ok Bob, But if you want to catch up with the majority of Coasters, grab a Tshirt , know of some events with plenty of notice then you need to attend the Easterly meets which is why I call it the main meet as majority live in the East , Hardly any members that do the East meet come west, which I do think is a shame as they are a pleasure to see and makes a nice ride over, which is why we try to make meets in the East.

Don't forget we tried meetings at Chichester and Crawley for over 18 months and still didn't find many new members.

Re: New Pub

So it's meeting at the Berwick Arms tonight then - this testing business is good fun but I am pushing my luck being away from Sue every evening
(I'm out every evening this week and there's only one that's not bike related)

Another problem I have is that my shoulder is well and truly ferked (thanks Dan) so I can't travel very far on the bike. Not sure if I can make it to Shoreham yet.
