| Re: Welsh international bike show Cancelled!!! I went to Builth a couple of years ago. On the Sunday, about 200 NCC turned up; although they caused absolutely no trouble at all (in fact I knew a few from the Midlands and it was good to catch up on old times) bear in mind that showground owners rarely ride bikes, but they do talk to other showground owners; so draw your own conclusions. FYI the committee is keeping an eye on this and has taken measures to deal with any problems that may occur at our own events.

| Re: Welsh international bike show Cancelled!!! Just another case of Dyfed/Powys Police scaremongering to try and get out of working weekends I suspect. They refused permission for the Green Gathering in LLanelli a couple of years ago. Millions lost to the local economy and all down to pure paranoia. I don't recall ever seeing any trouble at Builth and as far as I'm aware the Police are not acting on (or with) any concrete intelligence. Worrying outlook for the future though. Maybe I should suggest they have it at my place. Last edited by BaZa ®; 16-05-2008 at 01:19 PM. |

| Re: Welsh international bike show Cancelled!!! Hi,to all ,R.E. the welsh bike show at Builth. The Builth showground committee had a meeting a couple of weeks or so before the event to discuss the bike show among other things, the police were asked to attend which they duly did,The show organiser was not invited! The police were asked there opinion and the response was "we can't guarantee that we can police this event as we think there may be biker gang related violence" (even though the relevant clubs had both put in black and white for Steve (the show organiser) that they would definitely not be at Buith that weekend ),This was why the show was cancelled .The show organiser was informed of the decision after this meeting and was not given sufficient time before the show to appeal against the decision after all its only his livelihood so what the hell. some bikers did turn up anyway to protest as it where the numbers of which I am not sure. Our local rag the Brecon and Radnor Express was full of protests from the businesses in Builth that obviously benefit financially from all shows held there. The Business men and women from Builth who wrote in also pointed out that there is never any trouble that weekend unlike some of the other shows attended by upstanding citizens ? The Bulldog and Rock and Rock and Blues were almost certainly stopped for the same reasons although the Bulldog organisers got their ban overturned. Think this is scary? Even Baz Reid was approached by the local c.i.d to ask whether there would be any back patch members at Talgarth, Baz said absolutely not the reply from plod was what if? Good job barrie is a good diplomat otherwise there might not have been a Talgarth Rally! From that scenario you can use youre imagination as to what might have happened to the rest of our rally calender and might still happen. Who said we dont live in a police state? any way consider yourselves informed ,for any more info on Builth and indeed how to reply to plod when he phones about your local bash You could do worse than contact Barrie Reid,Region 7 rep. Sorry to bring you down folks but its best to be informed, Ride Free ,Pot Region 7 Last edited by kiwidave; 29-05-2008 at 12:12 PM. Reason: see my post below |

| Re: Welsh international bike show Cancelled!!! Good post Pot. Relevant and informed. BUT....I have deleted 1%er club names. Your words were good. But it's to prevent the risk of uninformed postings or thread hijacks. They dont use our name on their websites. We don't use theirs. People who know, know. | Re: Welsh international bike show Cancelled!!! An update on this. I've been keeping my ear to the ground, so to speak, regarding any pending event cancellations. I strongly suspect that the Welsh show may have been the victim of a bit of over-zealous "public concern" by Dyfed-Powys Police, as both that event and Talgarth fall within their beat. As Pot rightly commented, there is far worse behaviour at the Royal Welsh Show, and I fully sympathise with the local businesses who lost out. Went there myself a couple of years ago and whilst the show was OK rather than brilliant (mind you the weather was cool and damp all weekend), the "craic' in the local pubs was excellent.
